Thank you VC. That's why I like you more than Robb.

................

I think we can safely say that more people like me than Robb. Being Australian puts him at a disadvantage straight away. Being a grade A doesn't help either.

I am only a grade B one.

If we don't get border controls then the PM will probably take us out the single market

So the message is clear, no access to the single market without freedom of movement for people, money, goods and services.

Also Merkel is now saying get out quick

......................

It isn't going to happen, despite what Merkel says, and she does keep saying contradictory things.

They owe such contingency to the electorate and people of the UK.

................

It does appear that there were some plans put in place by the government Admin. And the Bank of England.

Stop being sore because you have lost money. So have I.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Far from sore, you only lose money when you sell at a loss. But definitely think planning is what separates us from the animals. The BoE are very good at cones of probability when they forecast.

But the government should have been more on the ball as £10m here or there is nothing. If the government say there will be an emergency budget in the event of a leave, then that is exactly what should happen.

She's juggling a lot of, uh, balls. You wouldn't really expect anything different from her right now, surely?

Why have we stabbed them in the back?

We voted to go in.

We voted to come out.

Right, so 27 countries unanimously agree that the 4 cornerstones of the EU have to remain intact and that there is no access to the single market without adhering to those 4 cornerstones, but in reality it is all lies because what they really mean is that for the UK who just stabbed them all 27 in the back, they will make an exception
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think VC meant the getting out quick bit.

Surely nobody thinks we're going to get direct access to the single market without free movement of labour.

Not your choice to be fair, you wont have access to it with border controls. Not the other way around
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We will have access. We always have access.

I take it people on here dont have much experience of high value negotiations. You normally start by making your ideal situation known and go from there. The negotiators should be aware of the show stoppers and areas they can give ground on.

We want access to trade and they want free movement. A compromise position could be free movement but only emergency treatment for free on the NHS and no benefits. I would happily settle for that.

But instead of free movement I would prefer that we can limit the numbers of Europeans coming here are in their place make more places for war refugees (rather than economic ones) and allow people to come from all over the world (including Europe) who best contribute to our society.

Fair enough, so we will also limit the number of UKers who like to setting in an EU country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If thats in response to my comment, if they contribute ot the society they move to they should be allowed to go. That could be our pensioners retired in Spain who contribute to the Spanish economy, same as people bringing money here would be allowed imo.

From the Beeb:

'Jeremy Corbyn is refusing to stand down despite his position being untenable, his deputy Tom Watson has told the BBC.

Mr Watson said the Labour leader had rebuffed his calls to resign, leaving the party "in an impasse" which risked turning into an "existential crisis".'

Stronger words from the Deputy.

One of these fecking cowards in the PLP needs to launch a challenge now. They can't sit and whine at Corbyn to resign ad infinitum.

The man won the last leadership contest by an unprecedented landslide. Time for someone to nut up, or for them all to shut up.

Email Juncker with your plan

I'd guess he could do with cheering up at the moment.

Sure, with lots of extra tariffs applied etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lots?

I think the average is 1.5% for goods in to the EU from outside

As a net importer, the tariffs we would receive would outweigh those that go on our exports.

......................

Didn't Osborne say the other day that there was no need for one as the Government had already got a plan in place in the event on a leave vote?

If tariffs are applied it will hurt Europe as well as us. The head of a group representing German car makers was on the news the other day and said 1 million German jobs in car manufacturing are at risk if we dont have access. Seems a lot to me but thats what he said. Do you think Merkel will stand for that?

He said that there will be a new budget when the new PM is in place and it will feature spending cuts and tax rises.
