The history books will probaby say the US election and Brexit vote came about in response to increased agression from Russia.

Well that, or: the beginning of the glorious Russian empires came about when the oppressed people of western Europe rose up and rejected the corrupt leadership that had crushed them for so long, forcing the break up of the once powerful western European Union. Emporer Putin swept their disorganised armies aside as they failed to co-ordinate their defences under such disparate political leaders.

That was I gather a propaganda move to distance Hitler from Christianity. He mentions his faith in numerous speeches.

I always thought Hitler hated the Jews because he was brought up in an antisemitism outlook on life. From his parents or even popular figures during that time when he was growing up. My hunch is that this has something to do with religion otherwise why blame the Jews at all. If that is the case, then Hitler was Baptised so he must have had some religious influences.

Not sure the church was so much the main driver for fascism but it was happy to play along. I'm pretty sure it did quite nicely out of slavery though.

I imagine its maybe a similar problem to what we see with some immigrants where they keep to their own people and it can cause friction.

Add in poverty and a lack of education, even in the good times there can be problem, as soon as the bad times hit the outsider becomes the target.

The religion of the oppressors or the oppressed is purely circumstancial, as are race or ethnicity.

Every society tends to have affluent minorities who are looked upon with resentment by poorer majorities, and often by other affluent minorities. When the latter are able to get the masses to identify with them through certain common traits (such as the aforementioned religion, ethnicity, etc.), they can use this against the former.

Minority 1 is safe as long as it's able to use its resources to dominate, protect itself, or at least keep the minorities at arm's length.
