this guy knows more than any of us about the set up of united, and so i would go along with him:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39505222

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Undoubtedly knows more than me, but it doesn't speak too well of how things are set up nowadays when he comes out with stuff like "I was probably involved in the process of scouting him".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
""When Luke Shaw signed for Manchester United I was probably involved in the process of scouting him and recommending him as a player because I thought he would be a Manchester United left-back for the next 10 years."

He's the fecking bloke to scouted him.

Last time I post this, because I've done it a hundred times:

If we keep sacking managers every season, we will keep going backwards.

And you don't know he would still be banging goals in either.

..............

I have not claimed he would.

I am not stupid.

You spend a great deal of time on these boards insulting people because they don't agree with you.

.........................

I am insulting you because you are being utterly stupid.

No other reason.

I have been in defence of Jose on this thread. But I don't use silly comments based on what might have happened under LNG to back up anything I say.

You are quite capable of debating without resorting to this kind of stuff.

I didn't claim he wouldn't. I said "MAY" have. Please read before insulting me. It purely hypothetical.

You really are quite an angry person aren't you. Doesn't take much for you to snap at people and this time you weren't even in the right as I never claimed he would have regressed under LVG, i said he may have. We'll knew know.

As you will if you sign the wrong manager.
Let's say you are driving somewhere and you realise you took the exit off a roundabout. How does continuing down the same wrong in the wrong direction actually help. Surely one should check out where you currently are, make a decision to U-turn and head in the rght direction.

It's reasoning like that that causes pile-ups on the motorway.

No, I am not actually. But my major weakness is not suffering fools gladly.

You are not a fool generally.

Competition is stronger now for top 4 than it ever has been, can you think of a season that at this stage there were still 6 teams involved?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whilst I do agree about the competition, I have to point out it was much the same just last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How what? At this point last season their were as many teams realistically competing for top 4 spots. Or is my memory sh-t?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it this tight though? If Arsenal and united win their games in hand that us Arsenal and united all on the same points isn't it? Or close to it anyway.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I posted earlier, from 4th-7th there were 4 points, Liverpool in 8th were 6 behind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If I could just chime in on this...

You guys are arguing strength of competition on the number of teams and point gaps involved. Someone also added the reputation (name/size) of the teams involved.

How about considering "strength" in terms of the calibre of football?

The general agreement across team boards seems to be that none of the teams involved are consistent enough, that none of them are really playing good football.

So, in terms of "strength of competition", is it really much of a compliment given Mourinho's track record that his team is struggling to overcome sides that are either not even in Europe or tumbling out at the first tricky obstacle?

Think we should give him one more season regardless. I dislike his character and his style of football but with his record we should at least give him that.
______________

This.

I don't see any point in sacking another manager, especially one with such a strong track record of success.

However, Jose is currently failing...let's not kid ourselves about that.

Also, I expect us to challenge convincingly for the league title next season.

Fack top 4. That won't be good enough for me next year, after we inevitably spend another £150m in the summer.

As the consensus of opinion is that we won't make top 4 and the Europa somewhat of a lottery then using the standards applied to the previous 2 managers he would deserve to be sacked.

However I don't think he should or will be for the reason mentioned above and also what he's done in the past does afford him the benefit of the doubt

He has improved your team, but not to the degree I think some may have wished/expected.

posted on 6/4/17

It is worth noting that Jose has improved us in Europe too, LvG was pretty dire.

While the season is ongoing, there is not really alot of point to any of this though.... If we finish in the top 4 and/or win the Europa... He will have improved us (CC in the bag already)... If he does neither, he wont have

I don't think your performances in Europe have been anything noticeably any better than what we saw before. You'd probably be in a similar position if LVG was still in charge, both in the league and in the Europa.

"No roundabouts on any motorway I know"

Well, if you want to get picky, just about every junction on every motorway uses a roundabout.

I wish Maureen was never hired... if wishes were horses...

If we didn't make CL and he was fired, I wouldn't be complaining... Id probably be ecstatic.

But if I were to be object, and that's pretty hard with this cant, I'd say he deserved one more season to splash the cash and see what he can do.

With the old Mourinho one might have been excited at that prospect given his ability to attract players. With this version, if i were a top quality player with options, I'd think twice about coming to play for him...

posted on 6/4/17

As to the OP. I agree he has added little to no value to MUFC as a manager.

Very unfair to Mourinho. All of his signings were spot on. It's not his fault that Moyes spunked loads of cash on Fellaini or that LVG overpaid on massive flops.

You are doing better in every aspect since Mou took over. It is far from being a smooth ride but at least you don't have to witness the Moyes / LVG shįt-shows.
