PL meeting this morning

Even chubby Karen Brady has gone of the idea in making the season null and void. I wonder why

I can't see any way whatsoever that the PL can order players to remain with their workplace if they are out of contract.

It's like the government telling you that you can't leave your employer.

Legal minefield which will be rightly challenged by players and clubs alike.

Players have to follow the rules of the body that holds their registration. You can't play without registration.

If they don't like it they can find another entity to register them.

Yep. Especially if say China is up and running by then and a player like Willian, Vertonghen is offered a huge deal. I imagine that would break employment laws to deny them.

yeah that doesn't sit right with me.

If they want to move club once their contract has expired then what is the issue

Seems like it's going to be a FIFA order.

The good ones will.

PL's loss and it won't encourage players to go to the PL if they think their contracts can just be over ridden by the league blazers.

The players are in contract with their club. They are not in contract with the PL and I would imagine it is against their own rules to simply state something when it hasn't been signed up to by its members.

Not a chance can they instruct players to remain at a club they have no contract with. And I don't even believe for a second that they can instruct players even if they want to break that contract by being sold in agreement between two clubs.

And if they do that, are they going to allow new players to come in or just instruct them that they stick with their current squad and that's it - tough luck.

Nah. Can't see that at all.

The season should be played out as a matter of fairness but like many others I have lost interest in this season now.

Is it?

Does it cover Belgium who have finished their league as well? Are Belgian clubs going to be instructed they can't transfer players between their clubs? Or make an exception for them?

Nope, don't see it.

I vote scrap it , give Liverpool the title , and just start again next season no CL no EL . International travel lockdown for a year . It's gonna be the only way to stop the spread .

If players are out of contract, they will leave. Nothing to stop them staying.

If the players are out of contract they can either leave and perhaps not find a club (and not get any wages until this blows over) or they can stay on a rolling contract I'd imagine.

You can't force anyone to stay when they're out of contract and if the players are happy with having no club for a few months then that's on them. The PL can still impose restrictions on the registration I'd think.

I have lots of football bets that could net me a tidy sum, if the season finishes. So it is not really in my interest for the league not to finish. But realistically it is the only way forward. At least I will still get my original stakes back, as being void bets.

posted on 3/4/20

I predict that when it comes to the crunch in a strange twist of fate United will help Liverpool to win the PL (which they do deserve to be fair).

I just can't see a way United will just accept voiding the season as there's still the change of CL qualification. Maybe some fans would like that to happen but I don't think the OT bean counters will see it like that.
