Has any data ever been published that proves that large outside gatherings are a major risk?

I mean, we are more than a year into this. Surely we have established this by now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Anything thing I've seen suggests even large gatherings - if they are outside - do not spread Covid.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. Why are we still in this position? Why are the goverment not been quizzed hard on this?

So many people seem happy just to plod on letting our politicians apply nonsense rule, without any good reasoning or logic.

Worrying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If only we'd had some way of determining who should be making these decisions? Perhaps we should find a way to ask the people of this country who they feel should be in charge?

What a utopia that would be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You’re happy with these decisions?

I’ll be interested in your happiness if and when they delay easing, continue restrictions, keep the borders closed and then keep fans away from football other than 500 or so come next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No I'm not

It's ridiculous that we can't have at least 10x the number into Hampden for the cup final (as a minimum). It's hyper-caution by the government that I strongly disagree with.

I agree with Ivan. Burn it down.

And, for me, it's quite worrying that so many people seem happy just to go along with it.

Are you suggesting a revolution, comrade?

I'm suggesting that apathy and sycophancy is letting our politicians get away with far more control on our lives than is healthy.

And as bad as it's ever been in the lifetime of everyone on this forum.

Except Ath.

People go along with it because they see the potential devastation it could cost

Nobody wants to be locked in the house, nobody wants to lock you in the house

I was in town on Wednesday and it was buzzing, everyone wants to get back to that and if we can keep calm and get everyone vaccinated we will

Sorry but no
The goalposts have been moved too many times
The hospitals are quiet so naw open up and get people back at football etc
I have a busy weekend breaking rules The Rangers tomorrow and a Palestine support one Sunday
$hite hvn
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Agreed. Except the Rangersy bits.

Too many times we’ve been led down blind alleys. And blatantly lied to with laws made up on the spot with zero scientific evidence. It’s all guesswork in the main and it’s been fundamentally flawed and downright wrong.

It’s getting more nonsensical by the day and pretty much most relaxations are caveated so much that they are practically impossible to enjoy as “normal”.

As for cost.

11 deaths from those with Covid
450 deaths from those with cancer.

Now which one is bad and getting much worse? Never mind how much worse we have already baked in for decades to come.

I’m all for opening up now, the vaccines look like they work and we need to on with life

But let’s not ruin the good work when there’s a new variant that we’ve managed to let in which is going to cause an upsurge in cases

We don’t know that mate. Let’s study the numbers during this part easing to the 21st June.

And right on cue SAGE tell us the R number is increasing.

What a shock

Funny how it was deemed not that important a few weeks ago.

Potential devastation.

The stats simply do not back that up. Not even close.

A case of scaremongering working there and then being perpetuated.

The data doesn not support locking anyone in the house.

As others have said. The goalposts have moved umpteen times. Protect the vulnerable. Done. Protect the NHS. Done.

An upsurge in cases means naff all as long as hospitalisations do not go out of control.

60-odd people with Covid in Scottish hospitals in a popualtion of 60million.

And we are still denied some of the most basic of freedoms.

Look at the numbers in Bolton 20 cases to 150 in a week

Could possibly be from household spread from people returning from India but the bigger the numbers the less likely that’s the reason

Just need to get in to these places and vaccinate

posted on 14/5/21

Correction: 60 odd in hospital in a population of 5 million!

If you look at what I’ve said I agree

Only start to worry if there’s an a rise in hospitalisations and spread amongst vaccinated people

There’s none here and in India

Let’s follow the guidance and we’ll be fine

Nobody wants another lockdown

posted on 14/5/21

Just how much longer can we afford this?

Carries on and the furlough scheme ends along with no international travel and millions will be out of work with many businesses closing down for good.

What a thought. Practically leading the world in gaining herd immunity with an incredible vaccination programme and we have harsher and stricter controls than almost anywhere else in the Western world.

If we had acted appropriately at certain points of the crisis we wouldn’t be in as bad as a position than we are now

If we can find 200m for a new royal yacht and x amount for more nuclear weapons or whatever we’re buying im sure we can keep this going for a few more months

Isn't it better to spend money on stuff that we actually need though?

most of the world have been living under restrictions, there's probably been people in this country that have kept to every single restriction put on them to the letter

posted on 14/5/21

Enough is enough for me now too.

This simply cannot go on.

This obsession with variants has to stop too. Otherwise it's a never ending excuse to keep restrictions of some sort.
