Thankyou for speaking sense. It's not Carrick that's the problem, it's the assortment of so-so midfielders like Anderson and Park that he's had to carry for the past 3 seasons that have made the less intelligent United 'supporter' question his role in the team.
Every single one of his fellow pros see him as a great player and it will suck if at the end of his career, suporters look back and think him an okay player for us when in reality he was a lynchpin for us during our most successful ever period.

I am of the opinion that he has never been good enough for United, and never will be.
.....................
This is why the vast majority of people consider you to be a dimwit.
A view shared by just about every Tottenham fan I have spoken too on the matter; laughed all the way to the bank.
And considering they now have Parker, Modric, Van Der Vaart and Bale in midfield, I can’t say I blame them.
.....................
Not sure how this is quite helping them. Our weak midfield constantly rips them to pieces.
Again, you are a clueless imbecile.
I am actually beginning to warm to the poster that calls him/herself Vidicschin.
And that from me is high praise indeed.
i don't get all this talk about him going missing in big games. If you ask me i think he was one of the main architects of our dominance over chelsea last season

Yes they received a good price for him but the Spurs fans i know didn't want him to leave, the warm reception he gets from them at OT & WHL would suggest that they the vast majority of supporters rated him highly

One of my best mates who regularly goes to White Hart Lane still wishes they had Carrick. He said when they first sold him, they'd regret letting him go.
"Yes they received a good price for him but the Spurs fans i know didn't want him to leave, the warm reception he gets from them at OT & WHL would suggest that they the vast majority of supporters rated him highly"
I disagree. The majority of the time teams don't want good players to leave, and are roundly booed for leaving to play for a bigger club and more money, Berbatov being a perfect example. They roundly applaud Carrick because he did them a job, but ultimately they got the better end of the deal. I shed load of money (at the time), for an average player. Annoyingly they new have one of, if not the best midfield in the premier league.
We_Are_All_Utd
They may have a good midfield but we're higher in the league and destroyed them back in August just like we do every season.
Goes to show that having a bunch of star players in midfield doesn't guarantee success. It's more about chemistry and we have plenty of that, hence why we're as successful as we are and Spurs will always be nearly men.
Every single one of his fellow pros see him as a great player and it will suck if at the end of his career, suporters look back and think him an okay player for us when in reality he was a lynchpin for us during our most successful ever period.

Those of you that have suddnely adopted a "told you how good he was" approach on Michael Carrick are just as bad as those who were slating him no so long ago, I didn't see too many positive comments on here about him when his form dipped and Fergie was leaving him out.
His recent form is excellent and long may it continue but I think those that are unsure on him including me will be more convinced when he has produced good form over a longer period that 4 weeks and also against the better team. Lets hope he does but we still need another decent midfielder in there and yes I want a top name that may cost lots of money, I don't apologise for this and it doesn't make me wrong, a glory hunter or plastic etc etc

While I agree with what you say to a point (it seem our early season form was rather out of character compared to last season, the season before, and the all games since Bolton), Tottenham are a real threat this season, and for me the majority of that success has come from the midfield. A midfield that no longer has Carrick, they have better players now.
Carrick's been playing well since the business end of last season.
People just couldn't admit to it.
Carrick's form has been nowhere near as bad as people make out. It's been patchy and now he has found some consistancy. He was never a poor player
"He was never a poor player"
Poor enough to be dropped, and bench warming for the first four games of this season, managing one appearance for a whopping 23 mins. Only reinstated to starting when better players became injured/rested. Which, if I’m not much mistaken was the shocking away tie at Benfica, and the beginning of a long line of ***te performances there after.
I'm bias because I categorically hate the bloke, so I find it difficult to admit he has some ability, and is at best a mid table team player. But he simply is not good enough to be at United, and given his (the managers) track record, I’m gobsmacked Fergie still thinks he is.
I genuinely hoped he had seen the light given how little game time he was getting at the start of the season, but alas, he had to tinker, and injuries meant the crab has returned.
Still, were it not for the injuries to the majority of our centre midfield, and Fergie obsessive desire to rotate, he may not have scored against QPR... every cloud...

SAF has stated over the last couple of seasons that Carrick doesn't find his form at the beginning of the season. He doesn't know why either. He was on the bench for that reason.
Carrick protects the back four and is supposed to sit deep. After his goal at the weekend SAF jokes he was going to fine him for running that far forward.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist that he is intructed to do the unselfish work for United allowing others to get the glory.
The guy has been brilliant for us and only the ill-advised and ones with a severe lack of football knowledge fail to recognise what he does for United.

You call him a crab? I've never seen such disrespect from a supporter on their own player. You call yourself a United fan, without Carrick last season we wouldn't have won 19. Did you see him in the Chelsea match? He dominated the midfield and protected the back 4 so well. Every player has a dip, Carrick had his and is now back on form and setting up quality passes and not to mention making runs from halfway up the field and scoring a great goal. I can't believe we have so many plastics, it's a joke.

So why the sudden drop in form when he is introduced?
I'm not saying it’s entirely down to him, but it can't be just a coincidence. The way we play when he's pulling the strings, is more often than not, dire.
I won't argue he does a job, but if we want to be challenging on all fronts again, we need someone who can do the job better. Unfortunately we don’t have better players around him, or the better players are aging, and he’s not being carried anymore. We are exposed in the midfield because we have lost some fantastic talent over the last few years, and it’s not been replaced. It’s graringly obvious our midfield is a complete shambles at the moment (we’re playing a defender there for gods sake) and only the ill-advised and ones with a severe lack of football knowledge fail to recognise that
