Saint its civil war part 3
Mr Chelsea
What is it with United fans eh? They always fall out with each other!
Mr Chelsea
--------------------------
Out of interest, would you have Carrick at Chelsea? And would he be a regular starter?
same question to ☃ Sain† II Rhône ☂. Didn't realise he was a blue nose.

No, not really. We've got Romeu.
We Are All Utd
Erm. First of all what's his role in the Utd side? He's ur DM right?
For a defensive midfielder he does an alright job, nothing special but nothing too bad.
Was he a dm when he came from tottenham?
My only criticism of him which I mentioned yesterday is he seems scared of putting himself about. Doesn't really take a game by the scruff of the neck
Mr Chelsea
------------------------
He protects the back 4 apparently. From what I'm not sure, seeing as he struggles to tackle, head and pass the ball forwards.
So to my question, you'd have him at Chelsea?
Sorry, I meant "to 'answer' my question..."
Mr C
Pretty fair assessment.

We ascertained that you are not sure about this football tactic some while ago.
If you read manuals on coaching and tactics you will begin to understand what we football people mean by defending or attacking 'between the lines'. You will then begin to understand what Carrick has been instructed to do and get his function in relationship with the other CM players in front of him. You will begin to enjoy your football more then and not be so baffled by it all.

I remember the old President of Real Madrid saying the same about Claud Makelele. He said he didn't have a clue what he actually done, so sold him to Chelsea.
Considering Real have pretty much won nothing since, and Chelsea's run of success during Claud's time there, I guess he now fully understands what a f-wit he was.
RedBlackandWhiteside
------------------------------
But Carrick is a **** tackler, I can't remember the last time he headed a ball, and often give the ball away, in from of the defence, very dangerous.
While I understand the concept of his role, I'm of the opinion he's ***t at it.
To add to this, and this is no fault of Carricks. When we didn’t play him in this role, thus taking that role our of the 'tactics' we scored 18 goals in 4 games, conceding only 3. Can we stop defending 'between the lines'...
We Are All Utd
Not at the moment. I wouldn't have him at Chelsea but if hes doing an alright job then why not keep him?
Shal I tell you where you need to strengthen? The midfielder next to carrick who's meant to be your playmaker, left back & right back

Utter rubbish
He regularly covers more ground than the rest of the United team and with Carrick, you knows it's intelligent movement too. He is very mobile

We're fine in LB at the moment, Evra may be poor but he does have decent games. On the RB issue, I totally agree with you. I feel the brazillian twins are made of glass, and they cannot be relied on to play RB/LB for a large bunch of games.
Unitedredmacca
Frorm what I've been reading from you over the past months about carrick is that he's a perfect defensive midfielder. No flaws to him at all. Is this correct?
"On the RB issue, I totally agree with you"
Yeah Smalling as been complete toilet at rightback this season, and most of last.
Carrick is a very good footballer. Very intelligent on the ball and can pick a pass very well. When Carrick is absent for United, they lack the ability to keep the ball well in midfield.
That's me being serious.

Just not quite good enough for England though.... Barry's that little bit better

---------------------------------
Nope
Feel free to trawl my history and provide evidence of this
Carrick is excellent at what he does and an in-form Carrick is crucial to our squad and is a joy to watch when his passing is at its best.
I defend United players if I feel critisism is unwarranted. It's called being a fan
While I understand the concept of his role, I'm of the opinion he's ***t at it.

Fergie begs to differ with you.
Now... who's opinion is probably more valid?
Unitedredmacca
I said what i said because any thing slightly negative about carrick is branded rubbish by you. I don't think its unfair to say carrick sometimes doesn't control the game enough. Take a look at scott parker. Now there's a proper dm. Would you swap parker for carrick?
Mr Chelsea
I disagree. Carrick is a much better player than Parker.
Is he? I'd say at defending Parker is better but at passing Carrick is better
"Fergie begs to differ with you."
Here we go again, round and round in circles. If Fergie is the messiah, and can do no wrong, why are we even creating articles on discussion boards.
We should all make a tinkerman shrine, and just sit and hum in front if it instead?
I refer you back to the team selection for the first 4 games of the season. That to me suggests when are better players are fit, Carrick will be in charge of halftime oranges.
