Was from a serious distance. Even if you are pro-gun laws there is no logical reasoning for a semi-automatic rifle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Most gun deaths happen with handguns which are far too easy to conceal.

I personally tend to think massacres and terrorist attacks of this kind are more to do with religion, mental health and cowardice rather than gun laws.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is considerably easier to kill a lot of people with a weapon such as a semi-automatic rifle. The weapon was easy enough to conceal last night.

Also, really weird point to make, gun-laws obviously don't do a thing but you can't cure mental illness. So why give them an easier option to wreak havoc?

Well that is probably true, but surely that fuels the gun law debate in terms of ease of access to obtain weapons

Really wonder how he done it, as far as I was aware the rooms at mandalay don't have balconies so must have made a hole in the window?

I personally resent gun law changes in the same way I resent civil liberty infringements. I don't see why a tool I should have a right to whether I want it or not, is taken away due to the behaviour of religious fundamentalists, psychopaths and white supremacists.

Because people are dying probably...Don't have mass shootings like this anywhere else.

These days you can fire very accurately and quickly with a handgun.

And frankly they are much more of a problem becuase considerably more people have them, they tend to be mroe affordable, and are smaller and easier to hide.

It isn't a coincidence that the U.K banned handguns first.

Firstly to have a hand gun to those levels of specification you would have to spend a silly amount of money. Secondly it still isn't capable to do what semi-automatic weapons can; basic engineering (it couldn't be as devastating at the distances the shooter was from last night). Thirdly, I think your logic is borderline psycopathic and not worth a debate.

Your comments show that you don't understand the issue NPE.

Always cater to the 1% (worst case) not the majority (best case).

NPE

when has there ever been a mass shooting like this in the UK? Or Europe? Other than when it is terrorism related.

It happens a lot in the US. If you think gun laws have nothing to do with that then no point talking to ya.

Should we also ban knives and cars?

Terrorists have been using them a lot recently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Organised terrorists stand alone here in there own group. They will get hold of the weapons from black market sources.

Lone wolfs ...whether they think they are terrorists or whether they are mentally ill or mega stressed out or whatever those are the people that restrictive gun laws etc are aimed at

isn't he just.

With his break downs he's had in the past and the attitude he has would not be surpised if he was a sympathiser for this sort of stuff. He's got a screw loose.

What you would have to look at regarding the handguns v semi autos debate is this, Handgun killing % per person with a handgun in the US vs Semi Auto Killing % per person with a Semi Auto.

Or you just aren't very good at debating and resort to pointless ad hominems?

A pretty standard handgun these days has a very good range, a very simple mechanism for reloading, is much cheaper than a semi automatic and much easier to hide in a handbag.

Have you ever fired a handgun? They can still fire 50 yards very accurately.

The truth is most mass shootings happen in close proximity to the victims. Today was an outlier.

Handguns are much more of a problem, ask any security expert or police force.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don;t know anything about guns, so i am on vulnerable territory here, but surely a hand gun as limited bullet holding capacity and as you pointed out needs to be used in close proximity, therefore making it easier for the person holding the gun to be overcome by a crowd of people?
