If someone is willing to actually give us money for this donkey then I would snap their hands off. He was worth the risk of signing him IMO but it didn't work at all and everyone can now safely say what they thought was true when he was at Liverpool and that is that he is an awful striker.
Let him go if we can get same money back.He is not a centre forward, horrible languid attitude!.Go now son bye.
I disagree, I think if Ngog stays he will be our most effective forward this coming season, particularly if he has someone like Sordell or Afobe to play off him. He is strong, has good close control, makes intelligent runs and can hold the ball up well. I think sometimes people forget he is still a youngster.
I agree with you LH in all it the youngster thing. A youngster is 16-18 by 23 he is heading to halfway through his career. He has never been prolific and may never be
As for Ngog leaving I keep saying this and you mention it in your article in this day and age unless you are city a player decides whether they want to stay or go. It is not viable to force a player to stay
Petrov - I'm just saying he is far from a finished article.
LH
You are a good footballing bloke, but I disagree pal.Ngog lacks guile, workrate and shows no sort of affinity with theclub/ job he is employed by.
LH what is your strongest line up? Forgive me if if missed this on recent threads been working 12 hr days, damn the NHS lol,
Or he might be and that's it. Skd was never prolific but worked hard in other areas. Those were the days of us having an intelligent manager who knew how to use him and it was not in 442
Nuns, in all honesty I can't fill one of the CB and ST slots in my strongest line up because I haven't seen Mills, Sordell or Afobe play.
Bogdan, Mears, Ricketts, Ream, Mills OR Knight, Lee, M Davies, Andrews, Ngog, Sordell OR Afobe
ngog to fulham?i thought christmas was in december!
What largehat said.
In this modern day football, a team like Bolton is never going to have a 'complete striker' - one that works for the team AND scores goals. Only the top 5 prem league clubs have players like those.
Interestingly though, last season we did have 2 players that between them, has the abilities to make that 'complete forward' - SKD and Klasnic. SKD works hard, runs the line and covers every blade of grass, but doesn't score many goals. Klasnic was the perfect opposite to that. So, I think you will see parts of both SKD and Klasnics games in N'Gog. He might not work quite as hard as SKD, but he still works harder than Klasnic. I am sure he will score more than SKD but kes than Klasnic this season.
I am pretty sure N'Gog will shine this season, as far as I am concerned, in his all round game, he is one of the best strikers in this league.
that would have been a damn good striker 2 seasons ago. joivan klasmander.
A front 2 of Joivan Klasmander and Super Kevniel Sturries would have got us in the Champions League for sure!
Or he might be and that's it. Skd was never prolific but worked hard in other areas. Those were the days of us having an intelligent manager who knew how to use him and it was not in 442
---
There aren't many footballers who are the finished article at Ngog's age.
I don't know what people expect. We all seem to want Coyle/BWFC in general to sign younger players, but have no patience with them whatsoever. What do you expect for a 22 year old who cost 3-4M? Robin Van Persie?
So we spend 4 million quid rescuing a charity case from Liverpool, who then scores 3 goals for us all season helping to relegate us & then moans to the press about his wages??
We should be persuing N'gog for compensation.
If, and a big if 'cos I can't believe a prem team can be interested in one of Coyle's signings, I really would drive him there myself, just as all the L'pool fans said when we were interested in him.
So we spend 4 million quid rescuing a charity case from Liverpool, who then scores 3 goals for us all season helping to relegate us & then moans to the press about his wages??
------
No.
He hasn't been moaning to the press about his wages. There was a story about him in L'Equipe a few weeks ago which claimed Ngog was considered a move back to France.
But while we're on the subject, if your company set some sort of performance target for itself, which involved the possibility of your wages being halved, you would moan like an old woman if it ended up happening. Anybody would. So even if he is unhappy about his wages being reduced, I wouldn't blame him for that, along with going from Liverpool to the Championship in 12 months, it's probably not how he hoped his career would progress. I suppose you think footballers should put up with anything because they are so well paid, and there's a nugget of truth in that, but nobody would wear a big pay cut and relegation with a big cheerful smile on their face.
You can't keep blaming Coyle for relegation Bricks but as soon as an opportunity comes up, blame Ngog. It can't be Ngog's fault if this is Coyle's mess as you keep saying.
If wouldn't accept a lift from you if I were Ngog. You're impossible.
He is not a bad player but as far as strikers go those that work hard but don't score are easier to replace than those that score. If we lose him it won't be worth stressing over. If afobe and sordell get goals he may not even be first choice. I think claiming any likeness to klasnics ability to score goals is just madness look at the facts before you make statements.
Petrov, look at the comments before you respond to them. I have never stated that N'Gog will score as much as Klasnic. I have said that he would be somewhere in between KD's work rate and Klasnic's scoring form. His all round game is more 'complete' than those two.
3 goals and the word more complete sorry but it does not wash. You can't pull up Bricks when he says coyles to blame for injuries which is not true then claim Ngog is a better goal scorer than skd.
Before you say it's your opinion fine but base it on facts. I think I am as good on a bike as Chris Hoy, better runner than Mo and have a better physique than Tom Daley but you would laugh at me if there is not a shred of fact based truth in it.
Why is it ok for SKD to have a poor scoring record but not Ngog? He does as good a job, if not better, of holding up the ball and bringing others into play. I for one am I big fan of his and hope he stays to prove the haters wrong.
Ngog out and get in one of 3 possibilities
Michael Owen... We have adobe and sordell for youth so don't see Owen as a bad signing although I know others will argue against this.
Jordan Rhodes or Nicky Maynard... I reckon both can do a good job in this league and would be good to steal Rhodes from under the noses of the chicken farmers
Fab it's because of what he has done in the past and that he played in a team that meant his role was never going to be getting loads of goals. Also he won't start many games whereas Ngog may if coyle backs him.
Fab it's because of what he has done in the past and that he played in a team that meant his role was never going to be getting loads of goals.
-------------------------
You mean the same role that Ngog has largely played? As far as I can tell SKD getting 1 in 5 is fine, Ngog getting 1 in 6 isn't despite the fact that an awful lot of these appearances won't be a full 90 minutes whilst the vast majority of SKD's are. I think a lot of people had their minds made up about Ngog before they saw him even play for us to be honest.
He is 23 and it was his first season with the club where he missed pre-season with us and picked up an injury early in the season playing in a team which largely under performed. Personally, I can't think of that many clear cut chances he has wasted whilst playing for us.
For what it's worth, I also feel Ngog could shine this season.
I cant remember who it was against but Ngog did well against some championship teams in the cups last season and I think his general play was very good.
Just the end product a bit more often.
Let's not forget, if he does start scoring regularly, he will become hot property.
