I think some of the fans are to blame for the current team as well.
On these boards at least, there is a general consensus that fans want to see 'quality signings'. They want a better calibre of player. Hence the big wages to get guys to go down divisions. Some people sounded deliriously happy because the new defender was Greek.
The truth is, you could have signed a proven division 1 defender for a fraction of the price and he wouldn't be any worse.
But this is a vanity project as much as anything else. And it looks spineless at the moment.
Fans should have been clamouring for the club to bring in proven, effective, British lower league footballers. Fans should have demanded more responsible transactions in terms of player contracts.
It is autumn just now. What happens in the winter? RFC traditionally struggled at the end of the year in the spl at times.
What will the players make of Elgin when it's lashing down with icy rain?

And your current side should stroll the SPL so why should any of us plan for the future and try and improve the squads further

We have the small matter of the Champions League to play in pal! If you're saying a team half-full of International players aren't of good enough quality to beat a bunch of gardeners & plumbers then something really is wrong.
"Your current side should be more than good enough to beat a bunch of Tesco workers."
Right, Ive heard this, ive heard students, I've heard farmers, I've heard joiners, I've heard gardiners.....all from you Gaz
Its getting really tiresome this $hit, really is.
Alex Ferguson's first management job was with East Stirlingshire......away and tell him he was nothing but a greggs part time worker in his early days and see where it gets ye.
Its no wonder the rest of this country fcking hates teh old firm with 's like you giving it this kinda $hite 24/7

I'm saying it because it's TRUE Stevie! It's funny reading in the paper the day before about how a life-long Rangers fan who works in Boots is getting his dream chance to play at Ibrox

And you are not going to win it, so using your erudite theories why bother buying more players?
----------------
You said your current team wasn't good enough for Division 3. I disagreed, with the players Ally has at his disposal, with a budget & wagebill 100x higher than the opposition, the team really shouldn't be getting outplayed by part-timers in 2 away games.
What you saying to it all Ishmael
Shambles mate eh
"I'm saying it because it's TRUE Stevie!"
Naw...you're using it as a put down coz you think its funny, and you are showing nothing but contempt for the lower leageus, thats what you are doing
Ayr United are a part time club.....be a few joiners and gardiners in their ranks no doubt.
They beat Hearts in the league cup last season, the same club that dumped Celtic out of the Scottish Cup in the semi finals......and Ayr also went on to the semi final of the league cup, where they were narrowly beaten by Kilmarnock, same way Celtic were in the final.
I guess Celtic are "on a par" with the gardiners and plumbers and all that aswell then eh?? Or hows about you drop the day job pi$h

I don't think anyone thinks it isn't good enough, just that it isn't performing well enough, not quite the same thing. I think we lack a creative player that would make it easier but that's not an excuse, our team should be doing better.
At the same time though, it's three games in. It's still a novelty for the other teams and our away games are like cup finals so it was never going to be easy.
I still don't doubt for a minute that we will win the league. Over a season even with dropped points here and there Rangers will win this league. Or did people expect maximum points total and a 100% win record? On paper that maybe should happen but when has football ever been played on paper.

"Ayr were a professional 1st Division club, and I don't give a fluck if they beat Hearts"
Ayr are part time mate, as are Berwick and East Stirlingshire, Peterhead and Elgin et al....
I am living with it....I just find the use of the terms like plumbers, farmers, students and gardiners instead of the term "part timers" as nothing other than a dig at honest guys trying to make a living and also having the opportunity to play professional football every weekend.....its just sheer arrogance from you, thats all I see and thats what it is......I'm no lying either.
