Their overall plans on the footballing side have never been consistent enough, and that's part of the problem.
I just hope BR can emerged unscathed from all this, it dodn't take some fans (although I guess it was a minority) to get on Kenny's back last season, hopefully the fans and FSG will hold firm and support him.
I agree, over the course of two season you could say they weren't consistent in their plans. Their original plan however was changed when Kenny did so well at the end of the previous season to last when they had to sign him up. After he did a bad job they have gone back to their original plan, which in hindsight, they shouldn't have strayed from. Now we need the consistency and based on what they've said and implemented this season, it looks like it may happen.
BR is the guy they've chosen for their long term plans, so other than utter disaster, they will no doubt stick by him.
I don't like that it came down to pinning our hopes on an ageing striker talked about all window and resorting to panic on the last day. They could have ruled him out ages before the last day, the price was always the same.
On the other hand I like that they will not be held over a barrel in negotiations.
Why a decent striker hasn't been identified and bought is baffling.
It looks like we all agree that the plan hasn't been consistent.
I know we could have bought someone, but being realistic it would be a foreign player and what quality foreigner would come to us right now.
We're in the the young and promising or past their prime on high wages bracket of the market at the moment.

I've put it down a monumental f up which hopefully will never be repeated.
I know he's not a striker but Ramirez to Southamoton was also baffling. What could they possibly offer that we couldn't - plus the Uruguay connection with us should have been enough to lure him.
Ramirez to Southampton was bizarre even if we weren't involved or interested.
And they didn't just slip in and buy him before anyone noticed. That dragged on for a while.
Surely someone would have stepped in at that price.
The simple answer presumably was money JB.
* specifically wages.
My guess is that The saints are paying him a big fat wedge.
Paisleys - can't see how money would be the reason for Ramirez move, it must have been fooballing reasons surely
I'd like to think we're in for a nice surprise with the youngsters coming through, otherwise it's going to be a long season.
I was of the impression that Ramirez was a winger but having watched him since, he has been playing in midfield. Did we really need another midfielder or winger? Actually, that point stands for Dempsey also, in my opinion.
You seem to confuse resale value and profit.

TOOR, Maybe, please explain, with particular reference to the AC and Henderson signings and the implications for further investment given the self sustainability requirement.
but that's the whole point, he isn't better than none at all, as he costs money, money that can go towards a very good player, the following season to help the club grow for years to come. That's the plan.

TOOR, you seem to be forgetting that BR wanted Dempsey and was by all accounts very angry that he didn't get him. You insist that he should stick to his plan. How does he do that if the owners policy prevents him?
Or is it the owners' plan that you think we must stick to? Dodgy that if, by their own admission, they don't know much about 'soccer'
I agree that a plan should be followed however an element of pragmatism is often necessary to mitigate changed circumstances.
