We aren't skint, we're just doing Levy things. This window perfectly encapsulates why people have such a problem with the man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The problem is that Levy is the face of the operation but the true ambition has to come from the Lewis family. They've got the controlling share the club. In many ways Levy does get a hard time because he can only really do so much with the money he's given. The real villains in all this are the entire ENIC operation, not just Levy. He just does their bidding for them. The very fact the Lewis' family live abroad and don't go to games shows everything you need to know about how invested they actually are. They're the ones only in it for the money.
In many ways, the reason Levy is such a disaster is because he's so good at the business side, so good at generating profit that the Lewis family haven't felt the need to invest because he's generated all the funds for them. Levy's abilities are shielding the total and utter neglect of the true owners. Plus this is a cash cow that's going to keep on growing. That's the problem. It's just too lucrative for them to sell a stake but too expensive for them to put money in so where at this awful stalemate. The only way we get sold is if someone from the middle east pays something like 6-7 billion for a club valued at around 4 billion. Problem is, no one is going to do that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you look at our accounts the club isn't making any money. Levy isn't a great businessman anymore. The club just about supports itself. The value is only if the Lewis family sanction a sale, but they're not which is what I don't get. Unless I'm massively missing something.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are massively missing something.
The club supports itself with ever growing revenues underpinning ever growing spending.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Revenues isn't profit. i.e. are the Lewis family/Levy creaming money off the top? Which is the constant allegation being made.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You tell us. You read the accounts....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t know. I’m not an expert. That's why I asked the question. You clearly are. Just like everything else.
So, the club supports itself. Great. Where’s all the money then? Shareholders haven’t taken any dividends.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You clearly have no idea about the accounts.
Let me help you:
Pre-new Stadium:
2017 - Revenue £302m . Amortisations of registrations (transfers) £48m. Staff Costs £127m. Profit on player sales +£40m. Profit/Loss +£41m
2024 - Revenues £530m. Amortisation (transfers) £135m. Staff Costs £222m. Profit/loss on player sales - £82m. Overall Profit/Loss -£26m (loss).
Very easy to do the maths here. Revenues up about £225m, Spending on transfers up about £100m, Staff costs up about £95m, plus we have to repay our debts which in 24 showed £47m costs.
and 2024 was a year with no European football
The difference between the pre-new stadium and post new stadium eras is not the owners syphoning off profits, its massively increased spending on wages and transfer fees.
If we had sat at WHL then we'd be looking at spending a fraction of what it is now, we'd at the level of West Ham in terms of spending power.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We probably looking at loan to buy deals
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What? Why?
Is that what we're offering for Savinho, or what we offered for Eze or MGW....because those clubs wouldn't even pick up the phone if that's what we came with.
If we end up with a loan to buy then its more likely because 1. they are not a player we necessarily see as being long term (Paulinha) or 2. we spend our money elsewhere and cannot afford to get everyone we want in permanently and paid for now....like Romero or Deki or Danso or Porro. All very successful deals that improved the squad and kicked the cost of them down the road a bit.
In the Italian league yes.

I think you missed my point entirely though. I can clearly see that our revenues have increased, as has our costs. That's why I clearly stated the club wasn't making money. I challenged the question by others that the reason we are seemingly struggling is because Levy/Lews family/whoever are taking profit out of the club. Which they're not. As was the point I was making. We agree Dev, FFS.
I still don't see why don't sell up though. Surely that was the original aim. They can't add much more value.

I have no idea what motivates these people. I would retire tomorrow on 1 year of Levy's wages and live a very comfortable life so i cannot compue why someone sitting on something worth biullions wants to hold on to it, at least for financial reasons.
I guess part of the reason may be they are driven successful people who could retire any time but dont want to. They need that thing in their life to feed their drive and Levy probably needs Spurs and his ego will want to see us succeed so that all that effort is not without real reward. All that framed in his way of doing business....and he may also want to prove that his way can be successful. Again, an ego thing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that's what is confusing. I've said before, established prem football clubs are just play things for bored rich people. But these guys just don't seem interested even after adding all the value. I think Levy probably is, or at least he loves the idea of being a football chairman (def an ego thing). He clearly can't operate outside of the clubs revenue though (some will argue that's just good business sense, which it sort of is) but impatient football fans don't care about that (until their club goes bust).
The financial future of football is unclear. It could go through the roof or it could all come tumbling down. If the Lewis family aren't interested, especially now the old man is practically dead, I can see no reason why they don't sell up. Unless the valuation is too high or simply there are no credible buyers. Or can't the Lewis family force a sell? I can't remember the share ownership.
Anyway, we live in hope for some transfer deadline day drama, Levys fav day of the year.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
All I asked was whether the Lewis family were taking profit out of the club as I was genuinely curious. I understand the clubs revenues are up (again, not profit) and that we support ourselves.
Thanks for the condensing reply you come to expect on this forum though. I'm always staggered how many "experts" we have on here who seem to know every single working element of the club.

I'm not an expert but I'm not peddling fake news about like you. Again, read the accounts and it will tell you where all the money goes. Or use an AI tool.
Very simple.

Alright Trump, keep your knickers on. I wasn't peddling any news, I was asking a simple question. As always, the know it all's appear and don't actually answer anything.
I want to know what's stopping us mixing it with the big boys. Is that such a bad question?

We aren't skint, we're just doing Levy things. This window perfectly encapsulates why people have such a problem with the man.

You seemed clueless. I had already commented that our growing revenues have been supporting our growing spending.
You still did not understand, questioining whether Levy Faimily are skimming profits.
So i gave a fuller response backed up by figures from the accounts you read.
I dont claim to be an expert, I have a basic understanding which you clearly dont' Its not condesing [sic] for me to respond to your question and clear lack of understanding with an 'idiots guide' response.

I'm far from upset. It's all quite amusing and you seem a bit more triggered to be honest.

Sorry if i misunderstood.
They wil make billions of profit when they sell.
I don't think you get to be the chairmain of a multi billion pound business / football club without having that ego.

🚨🇧🇷 Manchester City have informed Tottenham today that are not changing their position on Savinho.
#MCFC have no intention to let him go, not even for fee over €70m — seen as key player for the season and for future.
This also blocks any chance of Rodrygo to Man City.
