Levy - Good or Bad?

Levy is a very good Chairman and we are a very well run club however our tight wage structure is always going to hamper us when we look to sign the top players.

Newcastle have shown that you can build a very good team on a small budget and it is interesting that our former chief scout graham Carr is pulling the strings at St. James Park.

I don't Levy is necessarily penny pinching although he does love a bargain however it is our choice of targets that worry me as we paid top dollar for Rebrov, Postiga & Pavlyuchenko and they did not make it at WHL.

We need to get in early in January having identified our targets looking to purchase a top class striker and an attacking midfielder.

"we have to start rebuilding for no good reason"

Redknapp offered "good" objective reasons.
Again, architect of his own downfall (unless what happened was my 'Levy ' scenario) .

There's alot of smoke and mirrors behind the scenes at Spurs, but as long as we stay top5 in the PL us, as fans won't question this/

"Aguero was too good for us even back then!"

Someone appears to be confusing too good with too expensive.

I wish people would stop criticising Harry for 'not loving the club enough'. There are plenty of managers with exactly the same attitude. I applaud his honesty if anything. Every English manager would have courted the England job, simple as that. What you have to concentrate on is why was he in the frame? He was doing a brilliant job, that's why. Ossie Ardiles loved the club, Glenn Hoddle loved the club but in a results based business i'd rather have the results than the sentiment. If all anyone can moan about Harry is his loyalty then it's clear he did the business where it mattered.

We very rarely do business early - and that is because you would have to agree a fee quite easily, which it seems Levy almost never does. Of course he is trying to get a bargain, but I wonder how many targets we have missed out on due to protracted negotiations for the sake of a few quid?.

I've always thought that Harry did a wonderful job, people just got frustrated too easily with our faiings and forgot how much he came in and changed our club when we were facing a long hard season in the bottom half.

Best league finishes for a Spurs manager in a long long time,

And complete it by considering why he was actually not even contacted.

Cost (honour your contract or pay the Levy tax) .
Performance (Spurs in 3rd with miles of space to 4th, to actually being 5th with 4 games to go) .

why do you concentrate on losing 3rd rather than gaining it in the first place. It's like you're focusing on the negative aspects of his reign with absolutely no regard for any of the brilliant work he did to get us there.

Chronic - I was quoting Numbers - I'm an optimist, but not to that extent

Gaining ?? Tis about KEEPING it til the end, no.

Again, Redknapp appears to be the architect of his own downfall. A way to stain all the good that happened under his tenure.

Other than that, I agree with others who believe that under the current Levy regime, he does not have what it takes to move the club over that final hurdle.

Anyone that slates Harry should have a look in the mirror, he did lots for our club and took us to places that we couldn't have even dreamed about back when Ramos was in charge

4th place, for only the second time in our PL history, both under Redknapp. Just because we were 3rd doesn't mean we have a divine right to keep it. Arsenal were unstoppable in the latter half of the season. Yes we did stutter but don't most clubs at some point in the season? I bet you'd take a 4th place finish now though wouldn't you? I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

redknapp did a good job at spurs. no one can deny that.

i cant say i miss him though. couldnt stand him as a person and thought he was a poor ambassador for our club.

football is a results business though and i was happy to overlook that while we were winning.

as we started losing and the football got worse and worse then he started to do my head in more and more.

and when he was sacked i cant say that i was upset.

I wasn't upset, Harry shot himself in the foot and he only had himself to blame!

But with AVB I still think if he plays the right formation we can do great things

If you are guaranteeing that no PL club finishing below us will win the CL, absolutely.

To spend or not to spend..

The time to splash the cash was summer 2011 when we had CL money. The board split the procedes and put half (around 30m) into the new stadium and academy.

A mixture of Levy's negotiating skills and a strict wage structure saw us miss out on big names and end up with Saha

Investing the money that could have been splashed on Damiao has hurt us in the short term but protected our future. I think the same reasoning applied to the signing of a young, ambitious manager.

I want to see us sign top players but I can appreciate the direction the club is going in. For those reasons I hope AVB is given time because if it works we could be amazing in a season or two.. with a signing or two
