We're generally poor at Old Toilet and they're generally poor at Anfield. The fixture is due a draw so my money is on that for Sunday
The games are fairly bitty at Anfield by and large, and even at that you went through a period where we'd play out a scrappy game and United would inevitably win 1-0.
Rafa had a couple of good games against you, and we trounced you in the Kuyt hat-trick game, but other than that there's been nothing much to write home about for us against you since the Houllier days.
Now he did create a cup final mentality for it to be honest. Fowler mentioned in his book that Houllier used to be in awe of United and have the players properly pumped for games, and Robbie had a go at him for celebrating a win against United too enthusiastically. He did have a decent record against you all things considered.
But yeah, since then it's been hard to argue that we turn it up for games against you. I think we pay you too much respect as often as we take the game to you. It took a while before Rafa got us to perform against you.

I can't remember the last time we drew at home, and we've only drawn 1 all season, so I don't think I'd put money on that

That is true.
I'd take a draw - despite all this bollõcks about cup finals, I'm not confident at all and think we'd have to give them a proper going over to win.
You just know that Van Persie will score, and we're still not awfully clinical, so logically speaking we need at least 2 goals to win, and that's if we defend well.
I'm glad you no longer have Danny Murphy.
He used to do it for Fulham as well. Very good player, always felt he was very underrated.
We play much better against Chelsea and City
It's not a United thing. We generally play better against sides who go forward more.
It's the biggest rivalry / derby type match of the year for both clubs but it's not the match liverpool have been up for the most for some reason.
The matches are usually pretty dull. I think both teams are too scared to lose and often up their game in a defensive sense and end up negating the opponents.
Obviously te 4-1 will stand out for Liverpool fans but there haven't been that many good matches between the two in recent years.

Yeah, I've always felt he was worth keeping, considering the relative pittance we got for him, would've been a very good squad player.
The last 5 head to heads is Liverpool two wins, United two wins and a draw
TKT, what are the last 5 at OT like?
I guess he was always in Gerrard's shadow and wasn't your typical English midfielder so didn't get the plaudits.
He's a pretty good passer of the ball and quite intelligent off of it. Reminds me of Arteta.
dunno
would have to look it up
Only time I remember winning was the 4-1
United have won the last 4 and lost 4-1 in the last 5. That includes an FA Cup win.
In the league the last 5 at OT is 4 wins and one loss for United
At anfield it's 3 wins one loss and a draw for us
I think we each won our last cup match at home
Truth is if United win its good and we go on to our march to the title.
Liverpool win and they will still be 7th.
Massive contrast when it was Liverpool challenging, whilst I look forward to the game, its like playing Leeds United.
yeah we are the in the championship

No but its kind of like the same feeling.
Always want to beat our rivals but if we dont we have bigger fish to fry.
That said I wonder if Liverpool would be in this mess now if they had a long term manager like us, we have been blessed.
we had the right manager, just the wrong owners who bankrupted the side and got rid of the right manager because he made too much noise about what they were doing.

I dont personally rate Rafa if thats who you mean. But BR for me lacks any plan b but is atleast going in the right direction.
Only time will tell, in any case I am very excited for Sunday's game I see a lot of goals.
The worst United defence in decades v the Liverpool playing two at the back
should be interesting at a minimum

I wouldnt say its the worst defence but we have been leaking goals.
In big games like this we are much tighter and hopefully dont concede.
Even if we do RVP is bang on form and if you score 8 we will score 9
A little push....
As long as it wasn't a big push its okay. Its also okay because Ryan Giggs was nuts deep in some bird who wasn't his wife...

Are United in danger of losing focus?
