I am not making case for Atletico. Just saying that things change. And the fact everyone is cash strapped for transfer fees, just means even someone on £183k/wk is attractive if they don't have to pay a lot up front.

A younger, more ambitious player would soak up the talents of a world-class player and learn from him. Unfortunately, Xhaka is far too old to learn that quick transition from defence to attack is critical. Even Elneny looked much more lively when he came on.

did you see when Xhaka picked up the ball on the edge of the newcastle box. took about 4 touches, turned with it then passed it sideways. then started screaming and pointing at KT for not making a run. if you hadn't spent so farking long fuddling about with the ball then the space would be there for you to pass into xhaka m8
