btw - I think Martinelli will work well with Gyok, Gyok drifts to the left quite a bit enabling Martinelli to go central,

We need a striking wide player on the left. Which is why we have been linked to Rodrygo (who is just like Martinelli but a better finisher).

I assume you know what gardening leave is. The point is you have to lock out directors from sensitive decisions as soon as you are aware they want to leave. So it can be much longer than any notice period.

I don't see the outrage of Lamine Yamal, it's a bit weird but if he want to hire dwarfs and give them jobs, what's the issue?

Eze is a replacement to Trossard imo.

So you always maintain that style:

Martinelli - Saka
Eze - Madueke

Madueke/Martinelli are similar.
Eze/Saka are similar.

Gives Arteta loads of options.

Edu was the technical director under Sanllehi.

The question was about the deal and the missing millions and that was of course Sanllehi.

But I think its assumed Edu chose Pepe. (not that he was responsible for the negotiation and money etc.)

Mislintat left, Feb 2019.
Edu joined beginning of July 2019.

Signed Pepe Aug 2019.

Edu is still good mates with sanllehi. They've been pictured together on his boat.

Edu just went with whatever was going on around him. He doesn't strike me as the type to come up with his own plans

So Edu came to the club in July 2019 and signed Pepe for a record fee in less than one month?

Mislintat left as head of recruitment 6 months before that, so I doubt he was involved.

Incoming technical directors can have a list of players they like before they officially join, so it could have been a signing Edu liked as a marquee player. The negotiation/contract would be done by the existing team and Sanllehi. I don't remember Pepe being a long term target. However, even if it was an existing target, Edu could have questioned it if he didn't like the signing. It's been rumoured that Berta did exactly that with Sesko.

The point of the missing money around the deal was why Tim Lewis joined as an external consultant. Edu was definitely not responsible for that side of the business till after Sanllehi was sacked. Edu has never been accused of any impropriety.

Yeah, it is pretty common knowledge that Raul Sanllehi was the driving force behind the Pepe signing, and Edu has pretty much stated he was against the transfer but he wasn't in a position to impose his ideas at that early point.
None of those first summer signings were really Edu. Most were already well down the line before he joined, some already done.

So Edu shouldn't be given credit for Saliba?

No.

Edu got Gabriel in?

Yes.
