thats why im comparing him to Dowman....

Gervinho was like Hleb. Lots of dribbling but no end product.

Hleb was a great dribbler (in fact thats pretty much all he was good at) and Gervinho was awful. Feet too fast for his brain

just what is it with hairband footballers

I don't think anyone can defend Madueke signing when you have Dowman closing to the first team.

They made the signing before Dowman lit up preseason. Dowman is still too young, you can't depend on a 15 year for a saka back up, i doubt the club also thought he would be so far ahead.
Look at MLS, had a great season last year but isn't playing that well now, at least we have Calafiori to play.

I actually think Dowman is the reason we lost interest in Eze.

he's an attacking midfielder like Nwaneri who plays on the right too, having two in that position for the future could've been a bit problematic.

Dowman could easily end up in the #8 role.
He is at least 2 or 3 years away anyway, who knows what will happen in that time. Arteta may not be manager, the style may have changed, Nwaneri may have flopped. Dowman may not progress as hoped. Odegaard may have gone.

We didn't not sign Eze because of Dowman, that is pretty ridiculous. Eze will be 31 by the time Dowman is 19.

Yeah honestly if you've got Dowman coming through that allows you to go for a more ready made signing like Eze rather than banking on a project like Madueke

Maxy shouldnt even really be in squad planning considerations. Way too young and we've seen plenty of prodigious dribblers at his age not even make it at the top level, let alone at Arsenal. That wouldn't have influenced the Eze decision at all. I'm fairly convinced Arteta didnt want him. Clearly had the funds to snap him up if we wanted to

Arteta is terrified of success. he knows if he signs a player like Eze then the squad would be looking pretty complete. thus meaning he has no excuses for another trophyless season. he'd rather buy a dosser like Mudwanke and fail.
