This is a blatant falsehood for the simple reason he had a great 6 months out on left when he arrived. Arshavin was never a central playmaker at the time. We usually deployed the combination of Denilson, Diaby and Fabregas.

1) they tried it in training and it didn't work.
2) Cesc was playing there.
3) It would've required some defensive work.

You don't seem to get it do you? If you are an Arsene critic you are not allowed to defend any of his decisions. If you are his fan you are not allowed to pour any criticism on him. Those are the standards of this board and the mindset of the people who inhabit it.

Eboue was a right winger in that game. He played Eboue on the wings cos Eboue has the skill set of a winger so it's not an odd tactical choice. Why must Vermaelen's decline be due to Wenger? How can he have a great debut season and then after a season-long lay-off and several other knocks, deteriorate so badly? Was Wenger to blame for the injuries. Did you blame Guardiola for Pique and Alves' terrible form last season? Bendtner, a promising striker? You're having a laugh. He was always average. His form has a lot to do with he himself. He's been just as crap for Denmark, Sunderland and now, Juventus. Your points are really naive.
But if a player isn't bothered to work hard and improve on the things he's told to improve on in training, a manager would have to be nuts to say, "OK, screw it. You need a confidence boost, let's just try it in a league game."
Cesc was playing his best in the advanced position.
Arshavin's lack of work rate and tracking back was less of a liability on the wings.

there we are again mate. You are talking about the myth laziness again. I dont think the guy is.
My point is if you bring a player in and he manage to play his best performances in that position in the middle for what reason ever I expect a manager to use him there more often.
I don't know what happened to Arshavin, but I do recall him scoring a goal and running up to Wenger to give him a big hug. This would suggest he wasn't particularly unhappy about his position or the manager.

Good lord, Batmanu. This was supposed to be a fair fight. It ain't over yet. To be continued, after a tactical retreat.
Batmanu
All our full backs were injured who else were we supposed to play at left back.
"I've been a long time Wenger critic. I just don't let fair criticism deteriorate to a rabid level where I have to try to distort every situation to make it a fault of Wenger. I still recognize his competence even with his shortcomings and I don't have to portray him as being a clueless clown.
-------
This is the worst thing about most of the wenger out types on this board. Sure, reasonable criticism is great, but this kind of nonsense - blaming him for anything and everything and ignoring logic to do so - is pathetic."

lol at the people saying he become fat + lazy + lost interest because he was being played on the left. Playing slightly to the left of your favourite position doesn't make you misplace every single simple pass, become fat and lazy.
Look at Cazorla, he doesn't always play centrally (where he's at his best), but he always performs well. Even if you think his best position is out wide (it's definitely not), look how well he performs when he plays centrally. It's a pathetic excuse for a pathetic player
Arshavin never played as a 2nd striker, not even once i think. When he joined we played 4-4-2 and he played left wing, the only time he didn't was when all our strikers got injured and he played as emergency striker in a 4-5-1. He's played on the left his entire Arsenal career, the position wasn't a problem for him for him when he was ripping teams apart for 2 years?
And why do people say he's not a winger and was played out of position... when he said himself his favourite position is left winger in a 4-3-3...? not sure where you guys are coming from with that one.

Morning Serial. Gave up on this thread yesterday when that 'Wilshere' fella and Sheriff started making up random facts!

I reckon he is just WUMming now. Don't think he can be this stupid.
lol it's true, I mean you said he scored 0 goals from left wing but he scored one against Blackburn from there in one of his first games so that's immediately wrong. RVP played 44 games that season, Ade 37, Bendtner 50, Vela 29 all of whom played up front. When RVP and Ade were both injured Arshavin played on the left of a 5 man midfield with Bendtner up front, never centrally. He complained about playing left wing in that formation because he had to do too much defensive work (that's where people got that he can't play left wing) but next season we switched to 4-3-3, where he continued playing on the left but as a forward, which in his own words is his favoured position

Source? ( If I remember correct, I actually think you'll probably find he was asked the question "Do you like playing on the left" and he said something like "I'll play where the boss asks me to" . But either way I don't think he said playing on the left is his favoured position
