to be honest Chicken, my comments concerning Torres, Ba and Lukaku were based more in hope than Logic.

If someone wants to pay top wack for Benteke umma. Namely Chelsea.

Would take Lukaku for a year.

Won't happen though

Spurs can't afford Benteke and the articles linking him to Spurs on a deadline day swoop for 20 million are laughable. Worst journalism I've read in years. AVB plans a raid at the final hour by trying to get Benteke for even less than he's valued? If it's true then delusional doesn't even come close but I'm sure it's just more hot garbage.

At the end of the day Spurs can't offer him anything except an energy sapping trip around Europe before The World Cup. Oh and Spurs are London based.........that's it. Benteke will probably leave after next season to a Champions League Club and that certainly won't be Spurs. Arsenal can't afford him either.

Spurs can't offer him anything

You got it Bumble, he can achieve far more fighting relegation than he could ever at a club who have finished 4th twice in the last 4 seasons.

You've hit the nail on the head there fella - its either Man Utd or Villa for the rest of his career. Players like Modric, Carrick, Berbatov etc would never play for Spurs for a few seasons - they would just stay put - preferable at Villa where they can fulfil their dream of relegation dog fights.

Maybe True

But as Bumble says little to change his mind at Tottenham at the moment, except getting his passport stamped on a Thursday evening when he returns home from some eastern European outpost

What a load of s hit you talk bumble.... Spurs can't offer him anything? oh apart from challenging the top 4 throughout the season which we will no doubt do and have done for the past few years. Playing with one the best footballers in Europe (Gareth bale) , world class training facility at Spurs that is up there among the best in Europe, more money, better players, better manager, some sort of European football even if its not CL.... Now I don't think Villa will sell Benteke but there are tonnes of reasons why he would come to spurs rather than stay in a relegation battle at Villa.

Don there are a lot of reasons why he should just go

But more reasons he should stay.

He can do better

Andy, I personally don't think he's done enough to warrant better mate. Now if he has another great season and hits 20 goals again then yes I agree, he would warrant a real top club like Real Madrid. For now I think Spurs would be a step in the right direction. Like I say, you won't sell him anyway

Fair dues Don..... No we wont unless offer too good.

You wont pay that?

Can't see it mate unless levy really does go out for it. If we can pay 17 mil for Paulinho it shows we have money but we will see mate. I can fully understand you wanting to keep him and if not, making sure you get the most money possible

The Villa fans have been awfully quiet on this article today, which is weird seeing how vocal they were on the subject before.

No point keeping a player who doesn't want to stay e.g. Modric, same for Benteke, if he asked to leave then hewill drop his performances if he is forced to stay or priced out of a move. The reson i don't think the same applies to Bale as there is not a single quote from the player that he wants out, in fact it's the opposite, he only praises the club for what they have done for him and how he is happy.

I rushed writing the above, hence the spelling and broken sentences, i think you all understand what point i'm making

Full back

I agree to a degree but some players have performed after wanting to leave their respective club, including Modric, Ronaldo, Fabregas and i think even Henry.

Its a dangerous game trying to force them to stay because whilst there has been "professionals" like the names i mention above, you can always get a "Berbatov" scenario where the player goes on strike - then your club has problems.

I agree Chicken, i guess it depends on the player, not looking promising for Villa at the moment though from the quotes i've read.
