Duncan Edwards. Felt like he was legendary but didn't fulfill his destiny due to the Munich Air Disaster. He'd solve our midfield crisis.
Never reached his prime, poor lad.
Thierry Henry at his prime. In front of our band of three attacking midfielders, he would have a field day.
Pele.
Surprised no one has said him yet. There are others from a similar period like Eusabio that would be worth considering as well.

Vc,
In that case we'll take a prime Robson. Would set us up a treat.

That was my reasoning behind Souness. He is the nearest to Robson that I could think of that fit with the criteria and is the type of player United so desperately needs.
Liverpool had so many great players back in your dominat years, but none of them made you tick like Souness, IMO.

Probably because most people on here weren't alive to see them. I know Maradona and Pele were 'great' players, its well documented. But other than highlight reels I never properly saw them play.
Thats why, in my opinion, Batistuta and Ronaldo will both be the best strikers off all time... funnily enough Maradonna and Pele also agree.
Scholseys Right Boot
Read the second sentence of the OP.
Otherwise I would have said Bryan Robson.

Socrates and Beckenbauer are great shouts looking at the area we need to strengthen most desperately.
I'd pick Zico. Love watching footage of that guy playing.
Used to love watching figo in his prime.
we could do with makalele
"Greavsie."
I support Arsenal (I have the "red seat" outfit to prove it) .
In fact in or current team seedorf or davids

Fat Ronaldo. Didn't get to see much of him
Wow this is a hard one!!!!
For what spurs need right now? Torn between desailly, maldini and scholes.
For the pure fantasy element - il fenomeno
although if united already had a quality midfield, i'd have a 20 year old Ronaldo
Essien or Drogba. Maybe less need for an in prime Essien with Matic
Kevin Sheedy
Would slot brilliantly into left side of our midfield
What a left peg he had
