Kevin Sheedy
Would slot brilliantly into left side of our midfield
What a left peg he had
-----/
As left pegs go there were none better, such a fine player
Zidane, would solve all of our problems

.............................
Remember when he scored that free kick in the top corner, think it was against Ipswich and was made to retake it, so he went and curled it into the other top corner instead? Wonderful dead ball specialist was Sheedy.
Him and Lineker were deadly as a duo.

........Zidane........Carrick........
Januzaj.....Rooney.....,,,Mata
................RVP...................
We've already brought in a player who used to play for us in the past in Ryan Giggs.
But to address the actual question, Patrick Vieira would improve our midfield immeasurably.

Bring back the greatest player to ever live.....
Play him out of position.

Probably what gollom would do
Smalling right back and Giggs centre mid suggest it's more than possible

Play zidane with Mata, Rooney, RVP, and Adnan around him and it probably won't matter!
If I was a manager and I had Carrick, Zidane, Mata, Rooney, RVP, and Adnan, I'd say, RVP, you sit up top, Carrick you stay back in MF, and the rest of you do whatever you want

Great shout, truly wonderful footballer for Villarreal and Argentina
No one mentioned Ronaldinho? Would have loved to have seen him in the PL
Right now we need a striker to actually score some goals so I'd take Alan Shearer.
Depends on the tools you have within your current team. But if you are starting a team from scratch, a player like Zidane would be an awful pick. He was always overrated & couldn't tear teams apart on his own.
Ronaldo of Brazil would be the ideal choice for most standard teams. Thierry Henry would be next best. If you already have enough goals, ie MCFC, then a sparkling creator-scorer combo like Maradona or Ronaldinho would be better.

The man is an absolute genius no doubt, but ronaldo (the World Cup winning version) was denied the chance to hit his absolute peak because of injuries, and he was the one who brought out the 'flip flap'. The 98 final, the knee injuries and the retirement still make me sad even now
Ronaldinho was also denied a chance to hit his absolute peak.. by cocaine.
It is phenomenal to think how good 'el fenomeno' could have been though. The way he ripped apart United towards the start of the millennium is one of my favourite footballing memories
