Did you not see the Dortmund City games last season?
I did. They played you off the park. TWICE.
"Based on what exactly?"
I think he answered that already.
"He's won 2 Bundesligas, two German Cups and taken his Dortmund team to a CL final on a shoe string budget."
The team would be built around Kagawa
Not many better than him in modern game. Jose and Pep obvious ones but can't think of too many more.
-------------------------------------
Jose is better at the moment but pep? Im not so sure about that.
what Klopp did with Dortmund is similar to what SAF did with Aberdeen imo. I think he could be the best in the world if he goes to a club with proper financial backing
Just because Pep has managed 2 great teams shouldn't mean you should underestimate how good a manager he is.
He took over a Barca team that needed big changes and he is already changing Bayern into his team. He really is a brilliant manager.

His reputation is based on two good years at Dortmund - followed, as I noted, by a rapid return to mediocrity. He was supremely lucky to make the CL final last year - should really have been knocked out in the semi by Malaga. He's never managed outside Germany, and would IMO be a risk for United.
There was a thread on here last year with who people thought were the most overrated managers.
I'll be honest, I put Klopp and Laudrup. I do rate them, just not as highly as some do.
So last season were Dortmund reached the CL final and trashed Real on the way (the team they actually played in the semi) as well as making you look average was mediocre?
They shouldn't have been knocked out by Malaga you idiot, the first leg was all Dortmund and both sides scored a dodgy goal in the second. Scoring a goal late doesn't mean they should have been knocked out.
melton
I do think thought that a lot of praise for Klopp isn't just his management skills but also him as a character, he really does seem like a breath of fresh air.
You have to admire what he has done at Dortmund, at their peak they were a brilliant team to watch playing attractive, fast modern football that United fans could only dream of playing these days. Still has much to prove but I do think he has great qualities.
I'd rather have Klopp over Pelligrini anyday.
Bitter blue has no idea about dortmund or what klopp did there. Probably never watched them as well
Dortmund weren't lucky to beat Malaga. They absolutely battered them.
I think you underestimate how hard it is to compete with Bayern over a sustained period.
They own that league. They've just signed Dortmund's two best players in the space of 8 months for crying out loud, I don't think many, if any, would expect sustained competition in that league to Bayern as it just doesn't happen.

you've got Dave so enjoy
Also why does he have to manage in the premier league before?
Your manager never did. And he's not doing too bad is he?
He's doing that sterling of a job, I won't have to "enjoy" him much longer hopefully.
Then again.....he's no Alan Ball.

It does when the late goal was blatantly offside.
Manutd,
I do rate him and his achievements up to now. I just have a feeling he might not sustain it.
Klopp is a good good manager. End of. the stats speak for themselves; seems the recent trend is to bash rival managers; dont know why that is about; either people are wumming or jealous.
I have always rated Pellegrini; for his work at Villareal; Pep is a bloody good manager; if he was British more people will be wetting themselves( talented squad and money is not the only ingredients to been a good manager), Pep has always stamped his identity on his teams when it is easier with the money and pool of players to play a safe attacking tactics at best, but no he would rip up the team and create a stronger unit, when he took over Bayern, he cnverted LAHM TO a CM, and made Bayern with ohter changes even stronger,
other good managers are Mourinho, Ottmar Hitzfield, Hiddink. like i said a coach does not have to be in your team to respect their work
Would love Klopp at United.
For me the most important thing is playing entertaining, exciting football. Klopp would bring that for sure. Would he bring trophies? On paper he's certainly more qualified than Moyes. He'd also likely have a CL to his name had Ribery been sent off, as he should have been in the final.

At the risk of being serious Klopp is relatively inexperienced. He has only ever managed in Germany where the culture is, well German. That means players do as they are told and play for the team. Managing a premiership team here is a different proposition.

I will give you one reason why I don't like Klopp.
His 'I weep for Shinji' comments. I found them a bit disrespectful to a manager who has acheived far more than he ever likely will.
Other than that he is obviously very good at what he does.
melton
Based on what? I think if given the right club and resources in the future he has every chance to do well. For me it's his character that makes him, seems to breath life in his team.

Yes it was, but so was Malaga's 2nd.
As it was for Pellegrini. Makes no difference. There's a risk element to appointing any manager, no matter where they've managed.
We've appointed a manager that has managed in the premier league for ten years yet he's been a disaster.
melton, that may be true. But sustaining the remarkable heights he got Dortmund to is more indicative of the nature of German football rather than his ability as a manager.
Villarreal were the same. It would have been difficult for Pellegrini to have sustained what he was doing due to the nature of Spanish football.
Klopp would do to United what Rodgers has done to Liverpool, revitalise the team. Too long have we played mediocre football with players capable of so much more. I genuinely believe that Klopp can be at this club for a very long time if (when?) Moyes is sacked.

I don't think it was meant to be disrespectful to SAF. He has a special bond with Kagawa and I'm sure he wants to see him succeed in life and seeing him at United has upset him. For me it showed a man who has a special bond with his players, escially when he said him and Kagawa cried together when he left. That's the sort of passion I love to hear in a manager, same with Jose.
