Spanish window doesn't close until midnight on 1 September, so Coutinho saga will still drag on for another 24 hours!

UEFA should really have the transfer window shutting at the same time across Europe.

That's a very tempting amount if true(for Coutinho)

If they sell him we should be getting that new stand soon

It's weird the deadlines, as German teams only have until 5pm tomorrow, and Chinese clubs have until 14 September. I know they're outside Europe but surely FIFA can make it the same across the world?

Nothing personal

But you both have been saying the same thing for like 2 pages straight

I don't think Ox rejected Chelsea purely because he wants to play central midfield.

I think he has rejected them because we tapped him up months ago.

The Ox to us link has been around for ages and ages.

I think we knew this one was going to go to the wire because Arsenal were always likely to leave it as late as possible before deciding whether he needed to be sold or not. If we sign him he will be used as a squad player I reckon. I think he would be happier being a squad player under a new manager in an exciting team than at Arsenal who are going nowhere fast.

I think Lemar is a Coutinho replacement, but for when Coutinho goes next summer, not this.

In the meantime we will rotate. Lemar can play midfield and wide left. We can rest Salah sometimes, rest Mane sometimes, rest Firmino sometimes. Lots of options so the Jan/Feb collapse of last season is far less likely to happen. They will all get plenty of games as long as we progress in the cups.

Lemar gets a year to settle in England with a new team and new league, without the pressure quite so high of being direct Coutinho replacement.

I refuse to believe the club is capable of such rational decision making.

Hope you're right righteous.

Gives us a chance to see how the team works without Coutinho towards the end of the season and we can work out who we need to sign in the coming year.

Well this blows my theory

Pearce says it's Ox if we can't get Lemar and we will decide today.

Suggests agreeing a fee for Ox will be difficult though and he may well just stay and leave on a free.

How about Karim Demirbay?

Been talked about recently but not much chat on here. Thoughts?

He had some nice touches against us. One of their better players in the tie.

I liked him and Vogt - who looked a decent centre back.

I could be wrong obviously but I think Ox will work out to be a good signing for us. Absolutely nothing wrong with his skill set what so ever and I don't think it's worth paying much attention to any injury record at Arsenal.

Look at RvP. Played on one leg for half his career there and then he's fine as soon as he leaves.

I've said a few times that I can see Ox being molded into Lallana's role quite easily. He has insane balance and good feet whilst being able to go either way. He can break the lines and I don't get this stuff about him not having a brain. I think his short passing is quite intelligent as is his movement afterwards.

Obviously he can cover wide also.

I remember a lot of people slating Wijnaldum when he came. Saying we don't need someone on the left, got relegated, etc. I stuck by him because I can see the lad has a good touch and can protect the ball. That's working out okay isn't it.

I remember when people were questioning Firmino. Again I could see a good touch, attitude, balance and work rate.

Like I said I could be wrong, any signing is a risk, but if this lad desperately wants to play for Liverpool (which if he has turned down £180k and Chelsea also seems so), has great experience, is versatile and has been coached well I'll wait to see how he does.

I suspect that it will be a good transfer.

If we can't get Lemar would you rather just sign nobody?

I've never been wrong.

Hope we miss out on Ox.

I just can't see the thinking of Lemar as an alternative to Ox. The very little I've seen of Lemar he just seems very different to Ox.

Pearce is very good but I'm not sure if he's right on this one tbh, just makes no sense to me. I 100% agree Lemar is a coutinho replacement whether he leaves now or next - Ox is not a coutinho replacement.
