Insert you strike me as somebody who'd be interesting to sit down with and properly discuss this stuff rather than an anonymous forum, I have to be honest.

You're very insightful, very knowledgeable but my issue with what you say is you believe your way of thinking is the only correct way of thinking, and any other way of thinking is wrong.

posted on 21/3/19

I should state that's how you come across, not sure whether or not thats your intention.

posted on 21/3/19

Not at all true, if it comes across that way it is because sometimes its like banging your gead against a wall here, we can do the same debate 15 times and the same lazy tabloid tropes get trotted out.

I voted conservative in 2010, greens in 2015 then labour in 2017, im happy for my opinion to follow facts. Im not a dogmatically rigid person (i feel at least) nor am i afraid to admit when im wrong.

I was very gullible in 2010 and let the "greenest government ever" claims affect my judgement along with the influence of my financial sector peers!

The problem with corbyn is that the media have been allowed to play the man instead of the politics. Even down to that stupid bbc Russian hat they photoshopped on him ffs.

His actual policies are lost in all the dog whistle noise, which is why i hope he steps down leaving mcdonnell in place as chancellor and someone like keir starmer steps up to the top job.

The elctorate are the most to blame for sterile career politicians like cameron and osborne (osborne was chancellor with an a-level as his highest maths qualification and prior work experience consisting solely of folding towels) people like corbyn who actually stand for and mean something are too easily smeared in crap by a rabidly right wing media.

The man has literally spent his whole life campaigning against racism and is being smeared as an anti-semite with no basis in fact other than that he thinks israel are wrong for persecuting the palestinians!!

Brexit can facking do one. As can the Tories.

Facking joke.

Tell me about it. I have no idea if I still have a job beyond the end of this month thanks to that fecking shower.

Bunch of utter kants, seriously. Has to go down as the worst government of all time.

I'd say we need a GE but what's the facking alternative?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed

I'd happily have Labour over these murdering Tory cvnts.

Not sure what people think will go so horrendously wrong that they haven't read from a paper owned by Tory donors tbh.

I actually agree whole heartedly with this, and don't think Corbyn is remotely at fault for the anti-semitism issue within the Labour party and I do believe that's a smear campaign.

But I cannot trust a party that seem to change their policy on a seemingly daily basis on the biggest issue facing our country since WW2. Why is that not a worry for you, what am I missing?

Tbh I class Brexit as moot. It's a Tory benefitting scam perpetuated by racists that is so incredibly difficult to implement to the genuine benefit of everybody that any thoughts on it are pretty much redundant.

What I care about are things like Grayling having to give Euro tunnel £30,000,000+ because he wouldn't let them tender when I just walked past at least ten homeless people on my way to work. That cvnt is still in a job ffs.

There really isnt. If you had actually read their last manifesto it would have been clear to you that they would rebalance society a bit.

Its a classic case of believing the tabloid lies. The tories borrow more, pay down less debt and have spent 9 years inflicting painful austerity in everyone so they could cut the already lowest corporate tax rate in the g20 by 11%

Neoliberal economics are a financially wasteful travesty. Just look at our use of North sea oil revenues compared to the Norwegians. If thatcher had the foresight to even put 20% of the revenues in to a civilian investment fund it would be pumping out £20bn a year now for the government to invest.

The idea they are fiscally responsible in any way is a carefully cultivated myth!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's very difficult to criticise the British press without sounding like a crank, but they really do have a lot to answer for - the reaction to Owen Jones calling the press institutionally racist the other day (after the New Zealand attack) was very illuminating.

Well said though Insert, great summary as always

Yeah he's particularly offensive - that he hasn't been sacked yet just shows how weak May is, no real power at all or leadership. Honestly, worst PM, she somehow surpassed Cameron.

Read a few days ago that mistake could cost us an additional £28m on top because he failed to ensure those contracts could be delayed if Brexit gets delayed.

He had an absolute disaster when he was pensions secretary too, cost the taxpayer £500m when he made a major fack up.

Grayling is hilarious, definitely a candidate for worst ever cabinet minister.

Neo

I read he's cost the country circa 2bn in fvck ups.

The fact he is still in a job shows the level of integrity that May has.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have they changed their mind though?

I know there is a narrative that they have but the policy has always been the same, seek a norway+ deal and if thats impossible back a GE followed by a second referendum.

I could agree they have been too slow to transition to a 2nd ref stance, but the party is allowing the peoples vite campaign to organise on that policy.

I am yet to see labour do anything that falls outside of that policy framework. And the reality is that their brexit plan is an "off the shelf" package and we would just need to negotiate the other opt outs which already exist and apply to other countries. (i.e. Litchenstein)

It would still leave us as rule takers, which would suck, but thanks to the GFA that will always be the case. But this idea they are flip-flopping is another media construct.

Just like the anti-semitism "problem" polls by yougov have shown labour to be the least anti-semitic party in the uk.. The rate of anti-semitic members have almost halved under corbyn to 26% while the tories remain at 42-45%

Its also worth noting that Corbyns administration have dealt with a backlog of 200 cases that werent dealt with under the previous party executive.. As well as setting up the bodies to carry out enquiries and expulsions while following the party rules and law, and right to appeals, all of which as you will be aware: time.
