You don't think Madrid wanted to keep one of the best, if not, the best no.10 in the world at the club?

Come on now Sheriff.

Isco started last season on fire, though he later got dropped and folded dramatically, while Di Maria also started excellently. And Bale hadn't even hit he ground running due to his lack of pre-season. Madrid were in no doubt they had the attacking firepower they needed. Ozil was a well liked figure in the Madrid dressing room and among supporters and I personally think they just wanted to make it seem like the transfer was in his hands when it was agreed to sell him - so as not to incur any unrest at his sale. By all indications in the press, Madrid were determined to offload either Di Maria or Ozil. Di Maria was willing to fight for his place. Ozil wasn't. Ancelotti said as much in a presser.

I did admit Ozil is a more contentious issue/

"Would Coutinho Get In Our First Team?"

No. Be our best backup option, though, coming in for Ozil, Sanchez or Theo when injured.

I think Coutinho will be a better player than Sterling

Sterling will sell for more though

Sterling is better and more consistent than Coutinho. Coutinho has some serious talent but he's WAYYY too inconsistent. When he's on form though, he can be frightening.

I used future tense

today, at this moment, Sterling is better.

"Sterling is better and more consistent than Coutinho"

Agree. Think Coutinho will get "found out" a little bit this season. Don't get me wrong, very good prospect , but when your sitting behind a front line of Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge who absolutely terrified defenses, it's easy to look very creative.

What I saw yesterday was that he struggled to get involved when he didn't have lots of space round him, and something he needs to work on.

Whereas Sterling will look very dangerous whatever team he plays in.

Isn't Coutinho like 3 years older than Sterling? Surely, Sterling should have an even bigger margin for improvement than Coutinho?

People develop at different times and at a different rate. Sterling may not get past this level he is at now, while Coutinho could kick on.

Either way, Sterling is easily the better player. That much is clear.

like Rooney, Sterling came good at a ridiculously young age

I don't think you can compare ages that simply

Coutinho is more skillful on the ball, has better awareness and better passing at present - but doesn't have the consistency and needs to get a little stronger.

Sterling scores more and plays further forward.

I think Coutinho has the brighter future. He has more skill IMO.

Ah okay then, this explains everything.

My apologies.

If I'm honest, the analogy you've tried to draw have been absurd. But keep up with the "legend in my own mind" routine. It's entertaining.

Tbh I wasn't referring only to this.

Your comment just gave me a possible/probable insight as to why we have such differing views as to what it is to be an Arsenal supporter.

A true one, I mean.

How does my being in elementary school in the late 90's determine whether I'm a "true" supporter?

Because you grew up thinking supporting Arsenal would mean an endless trail of trophies and glory and when this turned out not to be the case, you felt let down and betrayed by the club and probably cursed to day you decided against supporting Chelsea, like your school mates did.

Since then that sense of betrayal, as your mates have enjoyed goading you about your choice of support, has led to a point where now everything the club, it's players and supporters do is, through your bitter tears, not quite up to the unachievable perfection you thought would be a given back in those halcyon, Brit Pop soundtracked days of your youth.

Ahhh, it sucks, huh?

Harsh that, Lex. Sheriff may be one of those who underrate a lot of the Arsenal playing staff, but I'd have that from a fellow fan any day of the week than the countless others on here who seem to log on solely to be a banner-carrier for Arsenal and our players.

Lex doesn't often attack, but when he does that's what he's capable of. Absolutely vicious. Not sure Sheriff can recover from this

Check out his earlier article about Sagna, Chris.

The guy is utterly pathetic.

You mean, like, a "supporter"?

"You mean, like, a "supporter"?"

How does overstating a players abilities on an online football forum equate to support exactly?

It's the same rubbish that comes up whenever Giroud, Sanogo or whoever else is being debated.

I think both of them are useless at this moment in time but I cheer and sing for them as loud as anyone at the ground - that's support.

Giroud is quite clearly not useless though.

He's not good enough, sure, but useless?

I get your point about some people wildly overrating players to seem like they're a better supporter.

But if people like you go to the other end of the extreme (incorrectly) just to prove that one deluded person wrong, what does that say about you? There's quite a few posters on here that are like this.

Missed my point completely, Tu Meke.

TheSkins has suggested that overstating a players abilities on the likes of JA606 equals support.

I just wonder how, exactly.

As for this, my opinions are based purely on what I watch and judge. I don't model them to prove "one deluded person wrong"

But you've said it yourself here. Why else would you do this if not for "support", even if on an online forum? There are attention seekers, but those are obvious.

Admirable.

You genuinely think Giroud is useless?
