Crazy ain't it

The number of times I read about Rooney now being slow
-------------------

It is just opposition fans being blinded by their hatred for United. Instead of watching him with their own eyes, they listen to their fellow fans and the media.

Wouldn't mind seeing the links to the sprint tests for the England test and QPR games if anyone has got them. I'm quite interested in stuff like that.

Didn't Nike used to do them with the lads they sponsored as well?

Robbing

That's hardly saying he's running in treacle though.

Rooney is still fast
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah fair enough. Maybe it's because I see him playing on the shoulder less now???

Quite a few united fans say it too

Mudd stated he was on the decline again the other day only 12 months after apologising for getting it wrong in saying it 18 months ago

He's just been made captain of his club and country ffs. He misses a few chances in an England game and he's on the decline

What was good was the positions he was getting in to score in the first place. What was bad was his finishing.

A little like Falcao at the moment for United

Whilst I sort of agree with Macca's comment, firstly it's not up to clubs to make players available and secondly if a manager thinks the young player is the best player in his position, he'll want to play him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it's up to the clubs if the club make it a policy and include it in player contracts and I did say that the club could release them in special circumstances. For example a supreme talent who is ready to handle the burden
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it's not. The FA rules state that players must be released to the national team.

Rooney is fast over long distances. It's his acceleration that is the problem.

But it's become a big problem because in the position he plays you are doing more sprints over short distances than long distances - particularly when you receive the ball.

It's why you don't see him beating a man that often anymore as he doesn't have the dribbling and acceleration to get away from them.

Robbing, this one is interesting. Bale managed to each 25mph in just 20 metres!

That is nearly as fast as Bolt, who can run at just over 27mph.

Not sure I could do that on a bike now!

I saw an interview with Alex Inglethorpe (now at LFC) who said he had abnormally long levers which is how he generates the power. Few better sights in football than watching Gareth in full flow.

That's pretty incredible. How do they take the sample speed for both, though?

Doesn't explain that.

--------

27.3 mph is Bolt's top speed during his 100m world record breaking run. 25mph is the top speed that Bale reached during a 20 metre dash against Villarreal at the start of the season. That is rapid and pretty amazing that he can accelerate so fast.

Yeah that's nuts.

The weird thing with all of this is that having read all of Hodgsons comments about it, I don't get where the perception is that he is having a go at Liverpool or at sterling. He's backing him up from what I've seen if you read the full comments.

this is what is wrong with english national team,

it s so painfully obvious when you see the Irish and Scots play, them boys would play in a nail field for their countries, these players understand what it means to wear the national shirt, its that simple.

I disagree with that melton. There are quite a few thinly veiled digs at Liverpool and also some not so thinly veiled.

Yet England are still far better sides than the Irish and Scottish.

If England played like them people would slate the side for being workmanlike.

People just like to moan about the England team because they aren't as good as we want them to be. But it gets a bit boring hearing this team, that team and the other being used as a stick to beat England with - especially teams like Scotland and Ireland who don't even get to tournaments but run around a lot, because they have to, so apparently play with this heart England are lacking (boring cliche to suggest running around is playing with heart).
