I hear what you are saying, but as someone who has lived with terrorism,it does make you worry...........for example, being afraid to socialize in various areas.
It may not be high level now,in the UK,but all over the globe, mad jihadists are slaughtering innocents.
Until you have been held in that café,or watched your brother or son butchered by islamists on a London street.....................

Behave, they're a group of disabled psychopaths.
Arsene
He had weapons, and said he had bombs, and police want to prevent innocent folk dying............possibly?
Perhaps police around the world will hold back now.If they do act quickly,or if they are white and shoot non-whites,we all jump up and down, too.
They cannot win.You prove this point.

Back to the original point, how did one lone gunman manage to keep so many people hostage for 16 hours?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fear I expect. But was surprised he wasn't attacked by some of them before they stormed the place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A shotgun is a very good weapon (I believe that's what he used) for crowd control in that situation.

Human's eh.
If I was taken hostage there's no way I'd be attempting to take the gunman down, he wouldn't just try kill me he'd probably shoot a few other hostages in the process.
Its not just killing people either.
Ive read accusations of behaeding children, raping and selling girls as young as 1 year old to jihadists as wives

It does spread but not as deadly as say an automatic or a bomb.

That's true. Still better than a pistol. What's useful in a shotgun is you don't need to have good aim and one shot will send someone flying.

The only time ever had a gun raised and pointed at me, well the drivers seat of the car was in NI in the 1980s. My father who was in the Army in his younger years wasn't best pleased at the whole thing. Puts a dampener on a kids holiday.

Depends if you thought he was going to kill you anyway. May as well try to get some of you out alive. I once had a situation when I genuinely feared for my life. That's when you find out what you would do and no amount of talk makes any difference.
Unless you are like one of these kids with no sense of value of human life like the murderers in Edmonton in the news.
Was anyone genuinely scared by what's happened though?

The west does need to retink foreign policy, and American's who think they are running the world need to rethink also.
However, look at global terrorism,in ares where the west has no selfish strategic oil interest in,and islamist extremism is the main threat to innocent lives and liberal life.
I am not defending the west, but I am highlighting what jihadist Islamism is about, all over the world...........power and control.Just as the Brit's,Roman's,Spanish,Stalin,Hitler and Yanks sought power.

I lost my fear of death when I had to face it was real possibility many years ago. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. Without going into, details as a result of my friends actions a notorious criminal would have killed us (literally) if he had caught us, or at the very least left us crippled and probably brain damaged with the beating we would have had.
