I agree with you on Barkley. All he does is run with it and lose it.

All this means is that too many people take at face value what they read in the Daily Star and have put money on it happening

Barkley is a headless chicken.

He's good at running with the ball and has quick feet but doesn't have the footballing brain to go with and can't pass.

I'd rather have McCarthy from Everton if I was going to sign one of their midfielders. Barkley wouldn't get into our team as he's an attacking midfielder that doesn't score many or create many chances.

I like Barkley too but way too expensive really. I also think Moussa Sissoko could be a decent buy. Powerful runner in CM and scores a few too.

Some of you guys for getting he was one of our best players for a good 2 months before he got injured. Yes he is injury prone but that doesn't mean we should get rid of him. With the importance of fullbacks and wing backs in LVG's system we should have 2 top full backs on either flank. Stop being so fickle.

I don't want to get rid of him.

I'd keep him, sign a right back that can stay fit and sell Valencia.

Who? Rafael? I don't remember the last time he went 2 months without injury.

And it's not fickle at all. I think he's a brilliant player, one of my favourite at the club. But the guy has been here for almost 7 years now and he has had just one season where he wasn't plagued by injury. That isn't good enough, even if we do intend to keep him as back up. I'd much rather have 2 right backs who can stay fit.

sell rafael

too injury prone, has the ability and passion, but cant be relied upon

have to be ruthless here, valencia more than good enough as a back up

Sell Valencia, keep Rafa and buy Coleman. Easy.

Don't think so. He scores goals. Valencia doesn't ! He can shoot and use both feet. Valencia can't !
Would be a decent buy IMO if we don't get Strootman and at a reasonable price.

no, we can use valencia as a winger and central midfielder. useful utility player in that sense considerinfg our injury record

would be a better player than rafael to have on the bench

I think Coleman can be a good asset for us, and is the type of player who fits LVG's philosophy. There are some wanting to sell Valencia, but for me he's a useful squad player to have. As fans it's easy for us to deride him, but I think amongst the squad he is well appreciated, he has given good honest service to the club, and can do a solid enough job when he needs to - the type of squad player you need to win titles. Rafael is still young, and it would depend on whether he would be willing to play second fiddle to someone in his prime years. Of course all this depends on both Coleman coming here, and then turning out to be a success.

don't be daft lad, he can do a job there even if his crosses are terrible.

alternatively he can be used at right back and central midfield in case of emergencies

far more useful to us over a season than a half fit rb in rafa.

posted on 3/1/15

Not doing a job as a winger if his crosses are terrible then is he? His job is to cross the ball into the box for us to score goals. He fails at this, miserably, so no, he certainly can't do a job as a winger.

LVG won't use Valencia as a right back. He has stated so already. It's one of the reasons we've been playing 3-5-2 for the past couple of months.

And we don't play with wingers anymore, really.

If we are to keep Valencia it will be as a wing back, where I think he has his uses to be fair. But that's a formation I don't really like seeing.

so you propose we sell valencia and buy who? on the right? you may not like it but valencia is far more useful that rafa as a squad player.

valencia doesnt have to put in 10/10 beckham like crosses every game to justify his position. he has other attributes like the defensive qualities he has, his pace on the counter attacks and his physicality.

he has played his part in important goals against arsenal and liverpool this season so you saying he cant do a job as a winger doesn't hold much water

This is what will happen, we will sign victor valdez, vlaar and maybe sign dani alves.

valencia is one of those dependable players that every manager loves to have. he would be a backup right back/winger

you wouldn't think milner would be playing for a first class man city team but he is in there fore pretty much the same reasons as valencia

gives his all, doesnt make mistakes, always fit and reliable and just gets on with.

theres just a group of 'expert' people on this forum that have it in for fellaini, valencia and young and nothing is going to convince them that these players can play a part in the team

Why don't we just be like arsenal fans and boo the players.

As long as they wear the red shirt, they should get our backing, simple.

Coleman as a right back and a new winger, who depends on what's available.

No he doesn't have to put in 10/10 Beckham like crosses every game to justify his position, but he puts in one out of ten crosses a game which does not justify his position.

He's also a poor defender, so his defensive qualities don't warrant a place either.

Well done he set up one goal and shanked a shot that went in off the defender in two games we were poor and fortunate to get six points.

That does not make him United standard - or the standard we aspire to, that is. It's players like Valencia being in the squad that have seen such a decline in our football.

Milner is a much better player than Valencia. He can actually defend and attack.
