Okay thats your opinion, i think hes been poor for the last 2 seasons atleast, he occasionally has spurts of good games no denying that, to old and inconsistent and past his best for me, never seen him as a leader for the team personally

Dont think he'll be offered a new contract

You don't happen to be Lori by any chance? Back again?

Johnson s best game for ages nut he wasn't up against much. He usually plays well against the ch avs. On too much for a RB who plays LB. Not good enough anymore. Not consistent for 2-3 years and so slow to turn/accelerate

Doesn't really matter what he brings to the dressing room, it about what he can do on the pitch, and he's not the player he once was. For us to move forward it is without Gerrard. I think we're a better team without him now.

Souness is being sentimental. He's also being a hypocrite. He got rid of the likes of McMahon, Houghton and Beardsley for being too old (they were 30). They were senior player in the dressing room.

He's not got the legs for out type of play. He ends up trying the Hollywood balls and fair play to him he can as his passing range even today was absolutely amazing.

I wish him all the best. He wants guaranteed football and he will get that in a great location in the sun. He doesn't even need to learn a foreign language

No just recognised the unhealthy feelings of resentment towards Johnson who has been a great professional for us over the years. You wanted Manquillo before him who has been nothing short of woeful, dropped and hopefully sent back home.

Not read the replies but I feel we should have kept him.

He's still our best midfielder and if he isn't then he's our second best. I'd rather keep his quality with us as I don't think we can sign as good.

I suspect Gerrard will have plenty to say once he's left.

Gerrard

“I’m going to carry on playing,” Gerrard said. “Although I can’t confirm at this stage where that will be, I can say it will be somewhere that means I won’t be playing for a competing club, and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool — that is something I could never contemplate.
“My decision is completely based on my wish to experience something different in my career and life, and I also want to make sure that I have no regrets when my playing career is eventually over.”

“This has been the toughest decision of my life, and one which both me and my family have agonized over for a good deal of time,” Gerrard said of his Liverpool departure. “I am making the announcement now so that the manager and the team are not distracted by stories or speculation about my future.
“Liverpool Football Club has been such a huge part of all our lives for so long, and saying goodbye is going to be difficult, but I feel it’s something that’s in the best interests of all involved, including my family and the club itself.”

“It is my sincere hope and wish that one day I can return to serve Liverpool again, in whatever capacity best helps the club,” Gerrard said.

I'm gonna go with what Gerrard said, his decision.

Second successive year FSG have lost our top scorer for the season. Apparently this is their idea of progression.

What do you mean?

Johnson has had some unfair criticism this season, he has been a fantastic servant and his form has picked up since he has returned to the team

Gerrard

"I’d also like to thank everyone who has been part of my international career, from the England Managers I’ve played under to the staff at The FA and, of course, all the players I’ve been fortunate to play alongside.

"In particular, the supporters have been amazing, not least in Brazil when they got behind the team despite the disappointing results.

“I’d especially like to thank Roy [Hodgson], firstly for giving me the captaincy permanently when he took the job, making me the proudest man in the country and allowing me to fulfil my childhood dream.

"He has been very understanding over the past few weeks and is a man I will always hold in the highest regard.

“This has been a very difficult decision, one of the toughest I’ve had to make in my career. I have agonised over this since coming back from Brazil and have spoken to family, friends and people close to me in the game before coming to this point.

"Most importantly, Brendan [Rodgers] has been fantastic and obviously I have to look after my body as much as possible to ensure I can give everything when I take to the field.

“To ensure I can keep playing to a high level and giving everything to Liverpool Football Club I believe this is the right decision, and having Champions League football back at Anfield is another big factor in my decision.”

--------------------------------------------------------

Something obviously changed/happened in those few months between the two quotes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What changed was that he was told he wouldn't start every game, he would be managed more, he stated that the manager told him that and that's why he chose to move, to play.

posted on 10/5/15

"The key conversation or moment was with the manager when he sat me down not so long ago and said it was time to manage my games for me and for the team.
"I'm bright enough to realise it is the right thing for everyone, but when you've been a starter and a mainstay in the team for such a long time, it was a very difficult conversation to have with the manager.
"I accept it and I'll continue to give everything I've got, whether I'm starting, coming off the bench or whatever, but that was the key conversation that swung me to deciding to come away for a short while.
"I had an idea the conversation was going to come at some time, but it was a painful conversation to have and that was the key moment - along with other things over the last six to 12 months, but that was the conversation. That was the key one."

TOOR

You defend the muppet BR no matter what.

You have fell for his fraudulent nonsense..........

God bless you my friend.

posted on 11/5/15

Gerrard who was/is one of the best premiership players of all time has seen through BR.

BR don't like having / buying older seasons pros because they see through his nonsense.

Toor get your head out of BRs hole mate it's embarrassing.

WHnoLifer up at four in the morning still thinking about all things Brendan Rodgers!

I take the point Toor and a few others have made. It's clear that Brendan has told Stevie he gets less playing time. Firstly is that a good idea considering his replacements have been bilge this season? Secondly whenever he's been up against it as a manager the first player he goes for is Stevie to bale him out if trouble.

I feel Brendan has mismanaged this particular issue.

I doubt BR draws up the contracts.
