Corruption to one degree on another is rife in the World.

FIFA are almost unbelievably corrupt and they flaunt it for all to see... yet it's still taken this long for anyone to act FFS.

There's so much money in the game it's no wonder it's taken this long to finally come out, you can only hope that Blatter get's the bullet

Thing is.......I can understand why Russia got it. They are one of the biggest countries in the world, never to have hosted the World cup and despite their extremely questionable politcal views, I think with their football heritage they deserve to host the big tounrament on the planet.

My issue is with Qatar. The country has one football stadium at present, a smaller population than Greater Manchester and it's in one of the hottest climates known to man.

Some people got very rich off the back of that decision. And I think we know who did best of all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sorry but this is nonsense. Every country has a right to host the world cup if their bid has merit.

Qatar did and it won, tough. You assume Russia paid no one? Right? Even England had offered bribes for votes as did Australia. Somehow that does not get reported.

Who is benefiting from the stadia being built in Qatar, western contractors.

Qatar did submit themselves to a probe but Russia destroyed all evidence of their bid but Russia is okay, right?

It is amazing how people are so biased in their assessment

Blatter will be the target for the FBI. He knows it....

It's all going to stop at his door.

Spineless Euro FA's should have been doing this a long, long time ago.

Prior to being considered as a potential WC host, Qatar was found to be an unsuitable applicant, and failed FIFA's own stress tests.

FIFA then concealed their findings and placed Qatar on their list of WC candidates.

Everything,

its funny seeing people talk about stuff based on a newspaper report

posted on 27/5/15

So you think a country with a population of less than 1 million people deserves to host the world cup? A population less than Gtr manchester and ten times smaller than London for example?

A country with hardly any football heritage at all. A country with a ridiculously hot climate and a country where women are seen as second class citizens.

I'm sorry but's it one of the worst places in the world they could host it. I have no issues with the middle east hosting it, I just think it's the wrong country in that region.

Really disappointed Figo dropped out, had high hopes for him to take a modern approach to football.

Stretford

I know it's selfish but the fact that England hasn't hosted a World Cup since 1966 or any championship since 1996 is criminal, we have everything that a World Cup needs and there would be less change required to host it.

What makes it worse we can't even apply to host until 2030 I believe,

football is going to the dogs anyway,

Its not like it used to be, its only a matter of time before a breakaway from Fifa happens, this will leave a super league style situation with the rest forming an independent body.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

What history did the US have when they hosted it?

Qatar's population is over 2 million.

Have you considered the benefits to the region as a whole? Football is for everyone, not a select few

posted on 27/5/15

Just as I said the other day FIFA are up to their eyes in corruption and it starts at the top ! Forza defending them to the hilt for some reason !
Qatar shouldn't be hosting it, obviously got the gig by dodgy means and their exploitation and condition of foreign workers is a disgrace as their attitude to women.
This isn't a westerner being hypocritical it's fact.
Most ridiculous footballing decision ever.

--------------------------

What benefit is that then? Jobs whilst it's being built but any legacy in most venues is usually non-existent. All we've done is tarmac more land.

Check-out previous Olympic venues now abandoned, some as recent as Beijing in 2008. Fifa puts too high priority on forcing a legacy, when in fact a country with an infrastructure that's ready-to-go could probably do more with a lot less money.
