Some great tapas there but he should have gone to the first leg and checked out San Sebastian really.

Yeah because we have a great record with our resales don't we.

He might be small but that doesn't mean he's weak. Silva, Hazard, Coutinho, Mata, Cazorla all seem to be ok physically. He's far more proven than Mane.

How does Pedro not solve any problems? We lack pace and goals and we ideally want a player who is good on the ball and a team player. Add his experience and winning mentality I'd say he would have offered us plenty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pedro is not "pacy" per se. In many ways he compares to a Mata in terms of intelligent movement and link up who is very good at finishing. We have a problem when it comes to creating chances and need players who can create theirs. Pedro does not create his chances, neither is his searing pace leading counters for barca. And all the intelligence in the world wont stop a big English prem defender from pushing you off the ball and taking it.

I'll hazard a bet pedro will be on the bench a lot for chelsea too for the same reasons he would have probably flopped with us.

Ronaldo? True but in the main we don't. Also I think the potential resale of a player is far less important that his actual ability.

Yes he is very fast and nothing like Mata. I personally think he'll get plenty of action at Chelsea, both ahead of Willian as a more offensive option and as a very useful back up to Costa centrally.

Hmm... Hazard may be one of the strongest wide players in the league. Look at those legs. Coutinho, Mata and cazorla blow hot and cold more often that not. Mata for example cannot play his natural role with us because he just keeps getting pushed of the ball and coutinho has had to get stronger to show improvement which is really slight compared to how Mane flourished last year. Haven't checked but I am sure mane has a similar goal tally in less time than coutinho in the league and more match winners. But he doesn't play for a big club.

I've seen plenty of Mane last season, he's hugely inconsistent and quite selfish in his play. He's got talent but I'm not sure what he brings that we can't get from Januzaj, Pereira and Wilson over the next couple years.

IMO we need someone far more developed.

Hmm... Will see. Mou got rid of Mata for his lack of energy on the flanks. Pedro will not match Willians energy there. He is one of the best defensive wingers in the league.

Or they've flopped and no one is willing to pay a large fee. You usually only get a good resale if the player has done well and wants a move. If they fail then their stock usually falls.

Buying a player and worrying if he will fail and getting a good resale is such a negative way of thinking. Buy the player who you actually want and who you feel will improve the side.

I know. Its why I didn't bother, because I know exactly what you meant.

Yeah Willian is, but he lacks much offensively, with Pedro you get a player with pace who works hard for the team and scores goals.

Like mu82 says, Sane has talent but is inconsistent. be a weird signing but I guess anything can happen these days!

Has the fastest hattrick in PL history though.

Would have preferred we sign no one and used lingard and Pereira but mane is ahead of them in the curve developmentally and we seem to want someone at the moment.

Also, Mane can and has led the line for s'hampton something I do not see pedro, lingard or Pereira being able to do. Looking at Rooney ne need someone who can act as a sub there too.

BBC Southampton are reporting Southampton claims that no bid has been made. I don't know what's going on at all

If we played Mane up top it would be interesting to see Mata being played behind him and the balls through he'd play. For that though we'd need to sit back a bit more and invite pressure onto us for us to make space for Mane to run into. Not sure I see us as a counter attacking side under LVG.

it is a bit odd, they admit united's interest, but deny receiving a bid...though "it is understood" - by whom isn't made clear - that a bid was made.

Yeah he can but so too could have Pedro. I just personally think Pedro would have been a better option but who knows what could happen in the next 2 weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if our club are desperate for a big name.

Also I don't really get why Lingard still gets mentioned, he's 23 soon and played the grand total of 1 game for us. He's got talent but he's just never made the step up and that happens to thousands of players ever year.

He's born in the same year as Gotze, Isco, Countinho, Koke, Eriksen and Veratti!

Maybe a smokescreen. Let's be honest the media have had little idea who we've been after all summer

Pretty sure everyone knew we were interested in Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Depay. There was also rumours of interest in Darmian and Romero before we bought them.

Working hard and defending well are 2 different things. Like I said though we will see how things go with him at Chelsea. I see some frustration for him there.

there was nothing on Darmian until Di Marzio broke the news, all the talk was of Napoli and Bayern

But it was broken a few days before we bought him wasn't it? Meaning the media heard of it from somewhere.

I mention him because every time I see him play for us, he is tidy, hard working and has an eye for goal. If he was lucky he would have broken through last year with the likes of mcnair and blackett last year with lvg fancying him as a lwb in the 352 days.

I mention him because I see lots of pedro in him. Neither faces up defenders to beat them but are constantly moving, both love to get into scoring positions and brilliant finishers, both work very hard if a bit unsteady in their defensive positions and roles. Inba different club lingard would be the squad player pedro was for barca with us. We just do not do a great job developing them.... Exhibit A, buying a squad player from Barca
