Yeh I think you guys have also pulled up all my pros and cons tbh

The OB1/Anakin dialogue is amazing - yes stolen but seeing this with "the" characters in live action was a an 11/10 for me

The sabre fight would have got top marks - except yes the throwing rock thing, completely broke the immersion for me, and very badly shot. The rest phenomenal!

Now the bad for me - timing.......this is in reality only a 30minute episode, we then get cool but quite frankly unnecessary filler fluff

Reeva what is she doing? I don't understand she wants to kill Vader but goes after Luke? I don't get it.....

And yeh - "Dont tell anyone Leia......maybe well meet again" winks at the camera

Have they betrayed Obi-Wan like they did Luke?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

God no!

The OB1 found was a broken man, someone forced to reconnect with his old self. With the force. The OB1 that left the series was a jedi master - back to his old self and able to communicate with his master. He was left in a strong place.

Luke, well they just eviscerated his character.

I loved the way that (I think in the first round if you will) Vader started to stagger back, unsure on his feet (it was before the ‘your strength has returned’, it really reminded me of Vader Vs Luke in ROTJ on the Death Star. Seeing Vader struggle is something really quite exciting and upsetting

Yeh, it’s that rare sight. It was a joy to see that.

I'm not going to comment on the plot holes and logical fallacies that present themselves in episode 6 because at this juncture, we've seen enough of them during the season to accept that the writing isn't great.

Scenes and moments I enjoyed in episode 6:
-Vader vs Obi Wan duel-Ewan and Hayden were terrific
-The visuals were some of the best I have seen in SW
-Obi Wans final words to Leia + Leias theme were emotional (RIP Carrie Fisher)
-Owen/Beru protecting Luke and Owen allowing Obi Wan to see meet Luke
-Qui Gon appearing was emotional
-Palpatine belittling and playing on Vaders weakness was iconic + imperial march
-Star Destroyer chase was nice to look at
-Some nice tie ins to episode 4 ( Obi Wan telling Bail he knows where to find him, if he needs help. Obi Wan meeting Luke with the "Hello there" line, Beru not agreeing with Owens view of Obi Wan, Obi Wan calling him Darth)

This is what people tend to forget about Vader, his whole suit isn't an enhancement, it makes him slower and more mechanical in his movements. It's also not as responsive, so whilst he still may be strong in the force, his sabre skills and reflexes have been diminished.

I loved that they finally used the classic SW themes but I needed more of them. They really should have played Battle of the heroes during Vader and Obi Wans duel.

Vaders mask being sliced off and the dialogue between him and Obi Wan was exceptional. It's the most absorbed and invested I have been in a single scene in SW, since Luke's appearance at the end of Mando season 2.

Yeah the star destroyer chase was good.

The call from Vader to increase fire I found a bit odd. We’re they not trying to take it out to the max previously? It’s like when there’s a car race and the driver looks ominously at the competing driver and then put his foot to the floor on the pedal and it’s like ‘we’re you not trying to accelerate as much as possible already you doofus?!’ I know it’s for effect but it’s silly

Despite the great ending, this Obi Wan show will not make it into my personal canon list.

Yeh, I’m likely to agree Naby8.
Maybe they betrayed Ewan, with a poorly written show, but I think Obi-Wan comes out intact.
Sure, he should’ve killed Vader 2nd time round.
But maybe it is true to his character that he walked away.
But the devastation that comes after as a result of that decision, again, should weigh heavily on Kenobi.

I mean, so we know where he’s at in Rebels.
And well these next 5 years is gonna take its toll on him.

But he must be aware of what Vader and the Empire are doing. And his lack of response to that has to take its toll.
What prompts him to go to Luke in A New Hope?
It can’t be just the SandPeople. Maybe Bail reaches out to Obi-Wan again….’Hey, Ben, long time, listen, you never guess what’s happened. Leia only gone and got kidnapped again…’

I think Deborah Chow done her best work in episode 6 but the credit I reserved for her previously, has now been gone. Any future SW projects she is involved in, will be looked upon with scepticism.

We know how Obi Wan's story started and ended, so this show was merely a small blip. I'd even say that this show enhanced Ewan's standing in SW lore and it makes everything he has done, even better.

I don't consider the sequels canon, so my lasting memory of Luke is his appearance during Mando season 2 and his arc in the Zahn trilogy.

In regards to the Vader vs Obi Wan duel, I loved the references to his two finger stance vs Grevious and the lightsaber spin and run he does against Maul.

The one gripe I had about the confrontation, which should’ve been built better, as it lacked the emotional weight. But once they were there and I got passed Vaders line of, ‘are you here to kill me?’

Er, you’ve been doing the chasing…but whatever.

But my gripe was, the actual start of the fight.
We saw the great distance between them, but then it’s so badly shot and edited, suddenly Vader swings his Saber and we are off to the races.

Why not leave it on a wide shot, and let’s see them move closer and closer.
It just suddenly happens, I had no idea Kenobi was that close. But still, once they get going, it was amazing.

Yeh, I don’t get why people are saying, it’s not like Sith.
They forget Vader is more machine. That Kenobi is older. I wasn’t expecting fast light footed, ballet fighting.

It was done right. Sure, could’ve been choreographed better. But.. it still works.

But sadly, it’s not enough to save the show.

It could have been done better but that's a common feature throughout the show.

interesting .. I thought the star destroyer chase was pretty poor tbh.

First of all i thought the visuals were weird.. the small craft didnt look right in fact it looked it straight outta spaceballs looked really janky.

how long had a faster ship been chasing this slower ship which seems to have amazing sheilds.

zero tie fighters launched to destroy this ship they have been chasing for hours, days (were not sure). Why there has been such a reluctance to use the tie fighters in OB1 i have no idea.

Vader saying he will pursuit OB1 to the plane alone. yet the destroyer still decides to follow Vader and ignore the ship they have been chasing.

the fact that they had another ship onboard that one ... THAT HAD HYPERDRIVE !!!!!!!! so all this was avoidable, cos the 3rd ship they used on this trip (when there was no space) had hyperdrive up and running.

For me.. it’s Favereau, Filoni and BD Howard.
But as long as Kennedy is Exec Producer. We have to worry.
We need the Duffer Bros and Russo Bros involved.
And I’m not even sold on Taika making a Star Wars film, as his main thing is comedy.
It may work for Marvel, but you can’t be sending up Star Wars, and them spoofing themselves.

Look how stupid it came across in the sequels.

they have to make Favreau Exec producer. He has shown over multiple franchises now he knows how to give the fans what they want, is able to capture the tone expected.

His casting is usually spot on also. For me he has to be the one overseeing all things SW at the moment

The problem with Kennedy is that, she’s CEO.
Favreau is already an Executive Producer.

I mean, do we see Fav or Filoni taking over LucasFilm?
Cos that would put more on their plate.
We just want them concentrating on Star Wars, and Kath just needs to step away from any creative decision making.

I didn't get it either Simon. Her actions and motivations throughout the show were a jumbled mess. Nonsensical. If anyone wants to try and explain it I'm all ears.

Vader killed the younglings - her family. So she thinks she wants to kill his family (if she can't kill him) to avenge them. But she can't do it.

It's not a good plot imo but it's not a complicated motivation.

I called the Reva redemption early on

Her story and arc is basic and poorly written.
