Happy new year to all

Fresh after the World Cup are we? First question (apart from this one...)

Why are the kick-off times slightly different this year? 14:25 and 16:50 start times for most of the Saturday matches.

G'day RK

Where the hell have you been since the World Cup.

(gets violin out)

It's only been me and Demus here to keep things going in The Pig & Whistle.

Anyway, to answer your question is quite seemples mate. Money, dosh, ackers, Wonga, filthy lucha, spondooliks.

Sadly our sport is totally governed by Mammon, in this case TV. If you don't believe the Mammon bit, take a look at players' erses - no not like that, though I know you want to - and then tell me that nothing is sacrosanct from advertising

Had all sorts on show, Christmas is always a busy one as well only just getting back into a "normal" routine this week!

Thought that would be the answer, is the same with all sports these days. Missed quite a lot of the news too but briefly saw someone a missing for the Six Nations, think it was someone for England potentially?

Brookes, Slade, Attwood, Slater, Manu (not sure he will be back to match fitness), Ewers and Hill are the notable injuries of potential players. So we are not in too bad shape to be honest.
Form is another matter.

Ballocks to the 6N anyway, we have 2.5 rounds of the HC to look forward to first.

Brooks as well.

Mind you, you could count out any Saints player. All suffering a severe bout of lethargy this season.

posted on 5/1/16

I named him first my lickle haggis ^^ Him and Slade are the two big ones imo. Obviously Tuilagi having played more than a couple of games in two years would be ideal also.

Demus

I'll ignore the jibe ya wee bassa ye.

With Brooks injured I suppose it leaves Cole to resume the mantle of wearing the same emperors new clothes he's worn for year. Most over rated player in rugby IMHO.

Andy Farrell is joining Ireland as their defence coach after the 6N. Seen the Slater and Attwood injuries, not good news for the latter after he missed the World Cup squad selection too.

Farrell to Ireland

Ding will be

Might be Sam O'Burgess soon.

posted on 6/1/16

Wrong move although he isn't backs coach and Schmidt won't allow himself to be dominated in the meetings. That and Eoin O'Farrell doesn't exist

Slater and Attwood would more than likely not make the starting XV anyway, I would have Attwood on the bench (if in form, based on this year I would have Kruis ahead of him).

Do you see Itoje featuring this year? I think Courtney has to shape up quick, or he won't get a look in.

posted on 7/1/16

Yeah I really hope so. I would go with Launchbury and Itoje but I get the feeling that Jones will pick Kruis instead of Maro.

Mr. Ed's first priority will be to restore English pride - whatever that is.

He will have to look for scapegoats to replace from the RWC debacle, but he can't go too far in case he goes too far. A loss in the Calcutta Cup would cause major questions to be asked, so I'd look for a pretty conservative selection for that one. Launchbury and Kruis for definite, along with Dylan who is not tarnished by the RWC episode. Beyond that, nothing that isn't essential due to injury etc. It'll LOOK like a very different side, but it would have done anyway.

Of course, the script writer looks at the whole game and I shall be there to watch it all unravel for the annointed one.

Painful one for you as always ^^

Hi fellas.

Important for our boys to bounce back from the world cup disaster.

At least we have a nice confidence boost for our first game. Away at Murrayfield, as easy as it gets.

Looks like we have lost Kruis and Launchbury this weekend now too. Lock has gone from a position of real strength to last man standing. Practically certain that Itoje will start now alongside maybe Lawes. There are a few other possibilities but it is tough to say, maybe he will go for Symons as he will have seen a lot of him in SR.

Not really.

We are still poor, but Scotland are absolute crap, and we always beat them.

Oh, so you didn't watch our QF against the Aussies then. Suppose you lost interest when Inglaterra got horsed by them and Wales.

I will be there to watch as I think of you crying in your beer once more.

We (Scotland) usually play very well at Murrayfield against England, we're always up for it. I can see us winning, especially given the back lines both Glasgow and Edinburgh have.

Hail Hail bmcl. Welcome aboard.

The pack aren't too shabby either these days. Happy days compared to a few years back when we had a decent pack but were rank rotten when we got the ball out.

Could be a decent 6N for us. I've forecast us to be third, starting with a win in the Calcutta Cup. Right looking forward, so I am.
