Food banks. Fecking food banks. 🤬 21st century 🤬 food banks.

For shame, 2 million odd using them in UK, including those working all week.

Rich poor gap is vile now and growing.

Come the revolution, I will be comfortably numb and miss it, but a day of reckoning is due.

People who migrated to the UK may also be concerned about illegal immigration encouraged by gangsters.

Is anybody saying the UK should be white, or not open to migrants, refugees, asylum seekers??

People may be concerned about illegal immigration or mass numbers, impact on social cohesion, poor infrastructure due to lack of Labour and Tory planning, but that does not mean they are racist or anti-foreigner.

The UK leads the way in diversity, welcoming all races, creeds and sects and mixing together.

Worrying about change, new arrivals, competition for jobs and homes, Its just what humans all over the world do at times...

Duke published the list of who has most migrants and foreign born people in the world, and the UK is above and beyond in this regard.

We are not the little England racists some portray, even if a few are.

Insert.

You again said I lack opinion and "post contrary", but I have given one or two opinions over the years here.

And I cannot access your Current Events thread when logged on, so am I cancelled for not having an opinion, lol?

Or the gremlins out again?

I do not want to post on your thread btw, but just letting you know the score.

My quest for balance will continue regardless.

Imagine threads only attacking Liverpool hooliganism, drunkenness among fans, sick chants, vulgar spending, dodgy owners, crap players, etc and not mentioning Utd or Chelsea too....you would be # balance ballistic.🤣

‘Invade the country’

You do love a bit of hyperbole. Do you work for The Express or Mail by any chance?

---------------------------------------------------------------------Who, in your eyes, are more worthy of and ultimately dependent on open arms, and compassionate care and assistance:

- a couple of already independently very wealthy financiers and their daughter, economic migrants from Canada, or

- a couple of people without a penny in the world arriving in a sinking boat, who have travelled for months, sleeping under motorway underpasses and being reliant on handouts to feed themselves, having escaped a war-torn country?

Let me guess: the financiers have ‘earned’ the right to present themselves at the UK border?

Oh here he is
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How's it hanging?

Starmer or Burnham....who is best placed to lead Labour and remove Blondie?

I go Burnham, if I was allowed to vote Labour in NI.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
😏

Starmer is the leader of the opposition so it's obviously him.

It's great that Burnham has gone back to local politics and got the fire back but if we fail at the next election then the party needs to grow a backbone and address the elephant in the room of brexit.

Hillary Benn or Yvette Cooper would be better leaders than Burnham imo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not think Starmer cuts the mustard, but he has a good mind and as you say, he is leader.

Brexit is done, right or wrong, it has passed and I do not see it as being the elephant in the room, when it is reality....timing is everything.

Not sure about Benn or Cooper being better leaders...Benn was remain to the core, similar to the lib dems, who got wiped out, so if an anti- Brexit voice (after the horse has bolted) is what is required to lead Labour well, then the jury is out, imo.

Burnham is more working class, northern and of Labour roots, compared to Starmer, Corbyn or Benn, so perhaps going back to basics is necessary now for Labour?

Cooper would be popular as first female leader, so that may be a plan in future, and she seems ok to me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Westminster Voting Intention:

LAB: 35% (+1)
CON: 33% (-5)
LDM: 10% (+2)

Via @YouGov, TBC.
Changes w/ 2-3 Sep.

Welcome BH!

She mentioned socialist policies and one example of such is the minimum wage and more recently raising it which Jeff was all in favour for which I think by now we all know he was and it wasn’t for the betterment of the workers…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks! I will reply properly later, as I think it's a point which deserves some looking at.

Just briefly though - if she is arguing that corporations and the filthy rich undermine the free market, then I absolutely agree! Many of which use the government to coerce workers and market competition, to protect profits.

If she is saying that these monopolies support socialism; then I think she is clearly mistaken or confused on what socialism actually is.

I appreciate my fellow Celt from Quebec isn't a fan but Trudeau smashed it against Rebel Media

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/09/justin-trudeau-rebel-media-canada-vaccine-misinformation

'The reality is, organizations – organizations like yours – that continue to spread misinformation and disinformation on the science around vaccines … is part of why we’re seeing such unfortunate anger and lack of understanding of basic science,” said Trudeau. “Frankly your – I won’t call it a media organization – your group of individuals need to take accountability for some of the polarization that we’re seeing in this country.”

If it were up to me I would accept hundreds of thousands of refugees the next day. It would all be done via the correct methods though and I would reject anyone who breaks into the country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Don’t via the correct methods’

You do know refugees aren’t exactly travelling with their passport, drivers licence and a recent utility bill. They’re coming from war torn countries where it’s not like the passport office is open for applications. This is why they can’t just jump on a plane, rock up at Heathrow and claim asylum. Also the reason they resort to other methods to get into the country.

Legally you are only allowed to apply for asylum once you arrive in this country.

Yeah I think she was talking about policies. I don’t think that she think that corporations support community owned production, exchange etc

So you’d reject someone who came looking for help, but are happy to laud, kowtow to, revere, pay duties to and place a jewelled adornment of someone who actually breaks into the country by force and takes over.

How would you like them to arrive, ideally, bearing in mind the fact that they cannot apply for asylum until they’re on British soil?

Morning all.

Just to add that the government (under Patel) has blocked off all other safe routes for asylum into the UK.

Leaving the channel as the only viable option.

Blocked off all safe routes🤔

Picking a fight with France instead of the criminals 🤔

Leaving the EU and not negotiating the same deal where we could legally return those who enter "illegally" 🤔

If this cabinet weren't so incompetent I'd almost think they wanted to use the boat crossings in the culture war
