Doubt Jesus would approve of unmarried partners having children and then being so inept at taking care of them they require state handouts either.
==========================================

I'd say the feeding of the 5,000 suggests that Jesus probably had a more empathetic attitude towards welfare than you do, wouldn't you?

Empathy was pretty core to his message, I'd say. Nowadays, we can point to some of his messages and call them reactionary, but that's b/c it's difficult to compare values across 2,000 years.

But by the standards of the time, he was pretty revolutionary, and the authorities reacted the way they do with revolutionaries.

(He probably did exist, btw. The question of whether he was the Son of God is a completely separate debate, which always ends up going nowhere, so I'm not even touching the sides of that).

What's weird to me about these GB News clips is they are clearly reading the teleprompter, implying someone has written this for them

Feels weird to me that the presenter will come out with what is clearly an opinion, a strong opinion that not everyone will agree with (deliberately), that they didn't even write themselves

Haven't read the Bible cover to cover but I don't remember him saying anything about unmarried mother's

He had no issue with prostitutes or terrorists though so would be weird if he did

I think he mentions them quite a lot in the David Sullivan version of the Bible, but you're right, I don't recall much about them in the King James version.

"I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

My take on this was that I was already condemned, so I may as well go the full monty, and get stuck in.

Even as a kid, I used to think Joseph displayed a slightly reckless level of trust.

Used to think of it whenever I heard the phrase: "Were you born in a feckin barn?" if I'd left a door open.

It's amazing how influenced by it we all are. Even if we don't believe a word of it, it somehow informs our thinking.

Paul the tax collecting unt is the only person who comes close to this with his "Marry lest ye burn" garbage. I think he was an undercover Roman spy.
