That poll is so depressing.
I know it's not every pensioner but I'm so tired of this country bending over backwards for pensioners/60+ crowd all the damn time at the expense of everyone else.
Brexit was won by that cohort, you can't touch WFA or even begin to discuss the triple lock without being accused of trying to kill your nan, and now potentially a Reform government.

Yeah, but the manner in which they planned and committed the crime, multiple victims in one go, who knows how many times they've done this before. It's not like they dated a girl and banged her. They are a grooming gang in every way FFS, and they clearly know it's wrong.
Sounds a bit risky to let them back out without at least some form of education/rehabilitation process tbh. This is a serious crime.

Keith did an interview:
* Says he 'deeply regrets' warning that Britain risks becoming 'an Island of Strangers' - comments already provoking a backlash from MPs who spent days defending him on rounds afterwards
* Reveals his sister-in-law was at his house when the front door was firebombed. 'She happened to still be awake so she heard the noise and got the fire brigade. But it could have been a different story'
* Says his Rose Garden speech, in which he warned that 'things will get worse before they get better', was a mistake that 'squeezed the hope out'
* Says Sue Gray was the wrong person for the job. 'It was my call, my judgment, my decision and I got that wrong. Sue wasn't the right person for this job

The scale of the government's u-turn on welfare payments is even bigger than expected - and much more expensive
* The Resolution Foundatoin estimates that the combined climbdowns on welfare and winter fuel will cost £4.5billion, money which will have to be found elsewhere - most likely through tax rises
* All those currently receiving PIP will be protected from the welfare changes - around 370,000 people. Cost around £1.5bn
* All those currently receiving the health element of Universal Credit - around 2.2million people - will have their income protected in real terms, ie their benefits will not be frozen. Cost around £1.5bn
* The decision to reinstate winter fuel payments to 7million pensioners was a further £1.5billion
What a shambles, the bill is pretty much useless now

Tryna target the sick the jobless and the elderly isnt very labour like is it? 1.5bn is a drop in the ocean if they taxed the big companies properly.

Long (and complicated) story short, the new right wing/far right-pandering govt here is changing immigration laws in such a way that it’d make it impossible to bring my dad here to look after him in his old age (despite the fact that his pensions would comfortably pay for private healthcare and otherwise dump a load of cash into the Portuguese economy).
So I expect I’ll be back in the UK for a few years (?) in the not too distant future.
No idea what that’ll mean for our business, but I suspect we’ll have to port it out of Portugal and back to the UK, which will be a ballache.
