Cavill a $hit Superman ??
yeah a poor Kent I can get on board with but he was an excellent superman??!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I didn’t mean that, I meant on the whole.
Yes, he was a very good Superman. His Clark is boring as feck
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clark normally is boring as feck.... thats his character, a quiet boring nobody tbf. his problem as Kent was he was too good looking and not awkward enough.
His Superman was pretty much spot on IMO. Id go as far to say he was the best fitting "Superman" more so than Reeves. Reeves Kent was as good as Cavilles Superman and Reeves' superman is like Cavilles Kent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh you right about the Clark, but just didn’t see enough difference between his Clark and Superman.
And that’s why I rank Cavill low on the list.
Clark doesn’t need to be a goof ball everytime, but just play him a certain way, to differentiate.
When he confronts Bruce in BvS for the first time, I legit thought he’s intimidating, and looks like he’s gonna punch Bruce in the face.
With Reeves Clark, everybody believed they had a chance against the big lug. It’s so well done.

He was a very hood Superman, but almost anyone can stand there in a cape and briefs and look heroic.
So, Cavill doesn’t get any extra points. Routh’s Superman was just as good.
But can they disappear as Clark Kent? And well, Cavill just put glasses on.
🥸 yeh no, I can tell it’s you fam <fam>
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no they cant, you need a very specific look and feel to pull of a Superman, the problem is that they are two very polarising characters at either end of the spectrum making it so difficult to pull off.
You need to be a strong confident invulnerable person and at the same tie be a weirdo introvert, victim who is unsure of himself.
Both are equally difficult to pull off depending on the actor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know the glasses thing is a joke, but I mean is, Cavills version was the least disguised. No personality shift..
And I mean, mostly anyone can play heroic, the real challenge is to play with dual personality. And agreed Superman maybe the hardest Superhero to play..

I liked Routh’s Superman. But his Clark loses points for basically doing the same thing as Reeves. He did a fairly good job, but what also let him down is that he didn’t have a good Lois Lane to bounce off.

So Reeves and Cavill then ? Are we counting Routh, cant remember his superman the film was so boring !
So for me it’s
Reeves
Cavill
Routh
Nic Cage
But it’s very close between Cavill and Routh..
For me Reeves and Cavill are equal. I think Caville's superman is as good as Reeves Kent, and Reeves superman is as bad as Caville's superman.
Routh might have ben good but he put me too sleep ! like literally I think I fell asleep during it ....I might not genuenly cant remember!!

Yeh, that’s what hurt the Routh film. It was a carbon copy with a pinch of boring scattered throughout.
Cavills had potential, so we will never truly know how great he could’ve been, and that’s a shame..
Reeves had what, 2 good films. Then downhill from there. There’s elements of Superman 3 I liked, in fact I can sit down and rewatch that no problem.
But it’s really the first 2 films that set the standard.

This chat between who & string was genuinely interesting to read back.
Have a gold star lads
My rankings of Superman:
1. Reeves
2. Cavill
3. Routh
4. Cain
My rankings of Clark Kent:
1. Reeves
2. Tom Welling
3. Cavill
4. Cain
5. Routh
We talking George Reeves or Christopher Reeve ?
It's difficult to judge Routh's Superman because of the film being boring as that didn't really have anything to do with him. He's just an actor being told what to do and say.

I liked Routh’s Superman. But his Clark loses points for basically doing the same thing as Reeves. He did a fairly good job, but what also let him down is that he didn’t have a good Lois Lane to bounce off.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
in the films only? .... id say Dean Cains was the worst by far..... he didnt change at all infact almost became more confident and cocky as Kent ! .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never watched it so, can’t really comment.
Wait, not watching Clark and Lois doesn’t break International Laws of Movie nerdom right? I’m good yeh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so to clarify what supermen actors are we talking about then? what ones are you considering when saying you have Caville as one of the poorest?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I’m purely stuck in Movie land, cos I’ve never watched the TV shows.. seen the odd episode here and there, but nowhere enough to comment on them.

We talking George Reeves or Christopher Reeve ?

It's difficult to judge Routh's Superman because of the film being boring as that didn't really have anything to do with him. He's just an actor being told what to do and say.
