Who says we won't have arnautovic, willian and rose signed by the world cup?

I don't see why you're so shocked it's not like they weren't going to buy anybody is it?

We'll spend more than them this summer I reckon. However it won't be enough for the title. I reckon City have the next title seen up already anyway. The rest have a lot to do to catch up.

What we can hope for is squad disharmony

Mahrez will mean less playing time for either Sane or Sterling. Few more signings and maybe people start getting unhappy?

Clutching at straws there Benji. I never expected us to win the title under Mourinho, but that gap between 2st and 2nd could increase even further next year.

What makes it worse is city actually seem to have a strategy.

Ours is buy the shiney shiney, ed and Jose the salesman’s dream customers.

Liverpool have bough Keita and Fabinho and might buy Fekir to reinforce their midfield.

City to add Jorginho and Mahrez.

United? Erm....

Will be interesting to see how they use Jorginho, I don't watch Serie A but isn't he a sort of regista? How does he fit into their set up, as he isn't a replacement for Fernandinho and seems to operate quite similarly to KDB? Marhrez too, while a very good player (on his day) I don't currently see him getting in ahead of Sane or Sterling, and they also have B Silva fighting for a spot out wide. They're strengthening the squad but it'll be interesting to see if everyone is happy.

Hats off to City for getting their business done asap though, it's what you hope your own club can do. I can't really comment on why we haven't really got any signings in yet as I have no idea?

posted on 31/5/18

Their squad is going to be ridiculous. Cannot see past them for the next few years. I know it’s been said before but they’ve never had a squad or coach this good before.

it's also worrying Pep has signed until 2021 as well, although he's a 3/4 year man I can see him actually lasting that long at City.

Depends how intense the job gets. He walked away from Barca because it was too much.

Will be interesting to see him in a pressure situation again where he's fighting for the title, rather than the procession that City had from Christmas onwards.

I think his time at Barcelona was probably shortened due to the pressure put on him by an absolute c*nt of a battle with a rival manager. Had that not happened I reckon he'd have stayed at Barca a couple more years.

Mahrez is quality. No idea about Jorginho.

But - and this is nothing new - these signings do rather indicate the sorry state of corporate capitalist football culture. The big teams with the big money buying the the best players and best coaches on big wages. As I've gotten older this stuff does somewhat kill some of the enjoyment of the game.

I'd love to see something(s) come into the game that actually level the playing field across the various leagues in a substantial way.

He will do 6 years at City i reckon, maybe more.

He left Barca because the internal pressure is crazy, he left Bayern because he wanted to come to England. He's got no reason to leave City.

posted on 31/5/18

Virtually impossible to predict whether a manager will stay for 6 years or anything over a 1 or 2. Pep's record in the CL in recent years has been disappointing, plus he'll want to retain the PL title which isn't easy. City will be huge favourites domestically but anything can happen in the next year or 2.
