Good experienced alternative to Bellerin. Hopefully will help Bellerin improve.

Free transfers at Arsenal..

No money after they've paid Wenger off

I think this is a good signing for Arsenal. Experience that will rub off on others in the side.

Was v. impressed when he came off the bench vs Spurs last season.

Strange, then, that the last two CBs Liverpool signed were a free transfer and the most expensive defender ever.

It is almost as if signing a player on a free transfer is absolutely no indication of the transfer funds a club has.

Seems a sensible signing to me. Getting proven winner and experience without paying a transfer fee. By all accounts he’s very fit, and he has remained a regular starter for Juve and Switzerland despite his age. With us transitioning to a new manager and approach, it’s important to have experienced heads around, especially in defence. Our defence lacked communication and organisation, so I’m hoping he can help with that, and can help keep bellerin on his toes. Hopefully now he has a bit of competition he’ll start improving again

Lichtsteiner is a smoke screen. His brother is Dembele agent.

Welcome to Arsenal Ousmane

We're always generous with players who agree to run their contracts down after we tap them up.

I'm guessing at least £150k per week.

He was on about 30k at Juve. Doubt we will have given him much more as a base wage. Probably got a decent signing on fee.

Kolasinac was on roughly the same, before we briefly made him our highest earner.

I'd expect us to have made an offer that would be enough to make Lichsteiner turn down a number of eye watering offers from China and elsewhere.
