I agree, Suarez cheated, but it's not like it's the only time in the world we've seen someone of the line handball to prevent a goal. Ghana had their chance and they missed, rightly said.

Italia 90 was the first World Cup I can remember and what a WC it was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was crap imo... Dull defensive football... Awful Brazil side

England were brilliant in losing the semi but hadn't really played well until that game

Germany were the only good side in throughout the tournament, Italy too after they fell into the Baggio/Schillachi partnership

Cameroon... Miller and their industrial tackling... Were a novelty

The rest of the tournament was meh... One of my least favourite WCs along with South Africa

82 and 86 were on a different level

The best bits of Italia 90 were Cameroon kicking the crap out of the Argues and the Rijkaard and Voller spat.

2002 seems to be hated, but for me it was a good one with a variety of minnows in the QFs and South Korea and Turkey in the SFs. Even though in retrospect South Korea did most likely cheat, but I was young and didn't really care.

i know Senegal have Mane n Koulibaly. what other players do they have at good clubs who will have experience of high level pressure?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ismaila Sarr looks a fantastic player, young and raw but superb.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Salic Sane (CB just moved to Schalke after 2-3 solid years for Hannover), Kouyate, Gueye of Everton, Moussa Sow, Keita Balde, Mbaye Niang. Amadou Diawara of Napoli was born and grew up in Senegal till his late teens but interestingly is chasing an Italy call up

Ghana has the done well historically at under 20 levels- just needs to make the progression in the real thing.
The under 17 competition is riddled with age cheats from some African and south America nations.
This set of Nigeria team are not the most talented ever but they have had harmony in the preparations and also a decent German tactician.
Egypt is a one man team..
I see Tunisia making life difficult for their opponents.
England beware!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing is the African sides do well in youth football because they are more powerful athletes than most other nations. When it get further on in football European teams just play them out of it.

They are getting better though more players becoming more prevalent in top sides.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a bit racist
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, it isn't. You clearly don't understand what 'racist' means, along with about 90% of the rest of the population.

You could suggest it's racially stereotyping, which is a completely different thing but in all truth, it's partly correct but even then 'africa' isn't a race.

noun

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

Nothing about the comment you replied to insinuated that any race was 'inferior', it simply made reference to people from Africa in general being more physically imposing, particularly at a young age. If you researched it, it probably isn't far from the truth.

People need to stop crying 'racism' at every little thing. Racism is a horrible thing, it's both cruel and ignorant and people suffer with genuine instances of racism. The fact it gets banded about so much now, almost desensitises people to it.

I see the racism card played almost daily, in completely the wrong context and it's irritating. The amount of people who claim they aren't covered by insurance is because of racism etc is pathetic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh cry me a river.

Some people on this board really need to lighten up.

The idiot Scouser was talking about Africa as if they were all black.
Little does the dumb bin dipping idiot know, there are not only black people in Africa.

Also, the claim that black people are stronger than whites at a young age...
It's actually because of their bone structure, bone mass is greater than that of a white person and its the same in adults.
Still it all comes down to proper nutrition and physical fitness because without that it doesn't matter if you're black or white, you'd be weak and seeing as it's the third world, you can count on them being less physically fit and healthy, compared to our white and black players over here.

What's this conversation even about, completely pointless because someone needs to shove a tampon up his ***** and lighten up.

My parents country Morocco will be better than many think. They have technically better players than those English headless chicken players. Portugal is an average team.

If Morocco wins the first game against Iran they have a big chance to reache the next round.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
a work buddy of mine is Portogese n he is very concerned about Morocco eliminating them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
History repeating itself,as Portugal was ruled by the Moors for 600 years?

I can't see it happening for Africa any time soon, they were so close before, but typical corruption and disorganisation messed them up.

African teams especially ones from the west had a style and swagger about them, now it's nothing special now, most have been Europeanised and their style has gone.

Senegal's squad actually looks really decent. They and Egypt should both have a good shot at going through from the groups (and yeah, nobody would be all that surprised if Tunisia dump England out).

Don't know exactly how the Senegalese line up usually, but they can have a front 3 of Keita, Mane and Sarr which would terrify most defences with the pace, directness and trickery, then they have Diafra Sakho, Mbaye Niang and Moussa Sow as other forward options. Mame Diouf maybe too, although I guess they might play him at RB. Koulibaly is a great CB option obviously, and then they have some solid PL midfielders with Gueye and Kouyate. If they basically set up to be really solid and get the ball to the front three, they're in with a really good shout of QFs I reckon.

Africa is the only federation (other than Oceania) to never have a team reach semi finale of world cup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So not the only federation then.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And which North America/CONCACAF side reached a semi? I assume Mexico but when?
