Because you think you are going to sign him for 65m you have decided that our 29 year old reserve centre back is Franco Baresi.

So I guess if Vertonghen decides he wants to leave, then Sanchez is their best CB and Vertonghen is overrated as well

You're deluded because you guys said the same thing about Walker when he wanted out. The same happened with Rose when he made his comments. You lot have form for this.

Personally I don't want Toby for few reasons. One, he has a question mark over his fitness. Two, I would prefer to not give your lot money. Thirdly, I want to see the meltdown happen when Toby kicks up a fuss due to a lack of transfer out and not offering him the money he is currently worth for a new contract.

Verts our POTY would be a huge loss but as far as I know he's staying.

Why don't you stick in a cheeky 50m bid for Llorente I'm sure you must think he's better than Kane.

It's funny because before Alderweireld decided he wanted out, he was the best CB in the league according to Tottenham fans. Now he's not good enough to start over not even just Vertonghen, but also Sanchez as well. That's very believable.

Toby was offered a more than fair contract for someone who has reached their peak, had not played regularly due to injuries and is now a reserve. He gambled on turning it down and nay now get the opportunity to play out his

remaining years at Old Trafford. Can't say fairer than that.

Not quite sure why Utd fans are claiming to know more about Spurs players than us Spurs fans ourselves

Any Spurs fan with half-decent knowledge of the game knows that Vertonghen has been better than Toby for the past two seasons. He was better in 16/17, and he was better in 17/18. These are facts. He was even voted our POTY last season

In fact, Vertonghen was more highly rated in Belgium and Holland when they were at Ajax. It's only really Toby's first season with us, and arguably his season with Southampton, where he was been considered better, mainly by PL fans

Toby's an exceptional long passer reads the game very well, but Jan is more rounded. He's better in the air, he's stronger/faster, a better tackler, and just as comfortable playing out from the back. This isn't hindsight


Many Spurs fans claiming that Trippier is better than Walker could be perceived as hindsight, whereas I'd argue they simply lack an understanding. Crossing is seen as the most important trait to many English people regarding wide players, an attribute that Trippier excels in far more than Walker. Walker is of course better at pretty much everything else, but people took his other attributes for granted imo


It's funny tho, the opposition fans who now claim that Walker is such a good RB were most likely (most definitely) greatly underestimating him during his time at Spurs as well. His defensive and passing ability were constantly dismissed and he was perceived as a pace merchant. One season under Pep and a PL title later and their own previous views seem to have disappeared

And I'm not saying believe what every opposition fan says about their teams' players. I certainly don't. Believe what you want. But don't act like it's only because Toby is leaving that we have this opinion (well, speaking for myself here)
