Toby was better than Jan last season before that injury
Tbh I don't really know how bad his injury record is, whether they were big injuries, the same injuries, a small number of long lay offs or lots of little injuries. Also don't know how fit he was last season, were most games missed through injury, or the contract saga, I thought he was fit almost all the second half of the season but just didn't play? I don't pay that much attention to these things with other clubs.
All I know is that he's a top player, in his prime (for how much longer I don't know) and would be a bit of a leader at the back for us during his time on the pitch. We don't need another young CB with potential, so this signing makes sense for me if it were to happen.
Obviously arguments are getting swayed from both sets of fans, whether he's suddenly way more overrated/underrated/injury prone or whatever.
Price does seem high, but from Spurs it's always going to be if it's to another PL club. Biggest concern for Spurs would be if they finally decide to let him go before the window closes and don't have time to replace him, which would be mad.
€65m is high but they are getting a top class CB. Absolute beast of a defender. His fitness is a worry though.
If it's a choice between spending €65m on Alderwiereld and Boateng, i'd go for Alderwiereld every time.

Agree with that, I'd rather end up paying £75m for Maguire than Boateng for around £50m.
Yeah 65 takes the sting off for us considerably - and there is real question marks over his injury issues. Yet he is the best CB in the league and any team in the world would miss a player of his quality.
Keep seeing £40m plus several add ons etc today in the papers as the 'final offer'.

Such a lie
If we do sign him or Maguire, you know the fee on the back page will include the players wages over the 5 years too, rather than just the transfer fee, happens every time.
Question, why are Utd fans so determined to rate a player who can't get into our 1st team?
Answer, because they might be buying him.
If he stays at Spurs I wonder how many messages of congratulations we will get for holding onto the next Franco Baresi?
Alternatively he might go back to being an injury prone hasbeen?

Try and find a comment from a United fan calling an injury prone has been, then come back.
Determined to rate him? It's a football forum and an article about a player we've been linked to for a long time, it's how this place works, get over yourself.
If you keep hold of him and play him, then fair play, you should be keeping hold of your better players now days.

what a pile of nonsense
he is one of the top defenders in the world and would greatly strengthen UTD
Because of an injury people have written him off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is a great defender but he doesn’t want to be here because if he did he would’ve signed a new contract.
End of the day if we can get 65m for someone only worth 25m in 12 months then we need to take it.
