Maybe people that don’t even live here, and are happy enough to judge from the safety of their own armchair, should do their research then.

Kids are turning up to school absolutely hungry because their parents/guardians are living in poverty. Schools are closing early because schools can’t afford to pay teachers property. It’s a systematic issue that’s escalated so much the last 10 years.
Fifth biggest economy in the world though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s okay though cos the MP’s are receiving another pay rise
Shocking story. To me it looks like it could be a domestic incident which, of course doesn't make it any better, but is also not an indiscriminate attack on the streets.
Also, and I don't know the full facts, but have stabbings gone up or are they reported more now?

So if you only want people who have lived in London or done extensive research on crime in london to comment, why have you posted this on the United board?

Where have I said that? This idiot clearly has no idea and is just choosing the easy way of deflecting the blame on Khan. We have had cuts in councils, NHS, police, child care, benefits and it’s all piled up and now we’re seeing the full brunt of Tory austerity.
Why didn’t this happen under Blair? Why is it starting to happen now once the Tories took charge?
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a knife is a good guy with a knife
And I agree with the point about parents not being blameless. These people are badly in need of a role model to tell them carrying a knife is entirely wrong. But this comes down to the government again, how many social youth clubs have they shut down now?
TBF loads of people will still vote Tory because they think they are middle class for owning a second property or working from home

Thanks Dazza.
I did think that was the case but I also thought that some of it is down to us getting more news than ever before too.
The police numbers don't help but also kids do need to be taught respect at an early age. Technology these days is fantastic but when I was a kid I'd be out playing football or going cycling with my friends. I don't think kids nowadays have the social skills that perhaps us older people have.

Another left wing crap.
Every unemployed citizen of this country is guaranteed a basic income. At least enough to feed the individual. In addition, every parent earning below a specific threshold gets paid child benefit weekly.
Why should youy blame the govt if children turn up at school hungry?
What about their parents?
Do you think by handing these irresponsible parents more money that they would change their irresponsible behaviour?

Because some of them don’t have any parents, or parents of a human standard that can tell them what is right or wrong. You’ve got no clue, just shutup.

A lot of it is to do with gang culture, which is something that is very difficult to eradicate. However, to suggest the government has not contributed to the conditions that have allowed for this culture to accelerate at a ridiculous rate in the last ten years is frankly moronic.
