Anfield Atmosphere

Do you even have a designated singing section like we do at Old Trafford??

The atmosphere is amazing for the big European nights no doubt but for a standard PL game it’s no better or worse than anywhere else

I agree with fat Dave from Rochdale.

I thought the reason Barca lost was due to them underestimating the value of second leg at home which suited Liverpool and that the tie wasn't over yet...Never seen any crowd that chants for 90 mins..oh wait Dortmund

Oh well, what do I know

It really boils your p*ss doesn't it?

I think it's a big advantage. But not all your fans do. There was a Spurs fan saying they were hampered by not having home games. Welshpoolfan thought it didn't matter where you played.. I think he was wrong.

I’d agree with that and put it largely down to being forced to sit. I’d also put it down to modern day football and day trippers watch through their phones.

I was at a league cup game a few seasons ago when the game finished a draw, idiots start to leave not actually knowing there was ET.

Prefer the away days now!

It mattered that we stayed at Anfield and developed the stadium rather than build a new ground, so yeah I think it really matters playing there and disagree with Welshpoolfan

What do you mean not having home games they doubled their home crowd for over a year at wembley? If sours were allocated 5 k seats at wembley you and the sours fans woukd have a point..

It still doesn't make it a "home" ground?

But it's not 'home' is it? The dressing rooms, atmosphere, pitch, all different. All teams have a better home record, and if you have to play away for a while it's a disadvantage imo.

posted on 3/7/19

It was their home for over a year, more of a home than it was for any away team visiting and therefore still an advantage especially outnumbering them on fans 60/70k to 5k or w,e it was?

Add to the fact that Spurs fans were generally unhappy at being at Wembley which you could feel throughout the ground and the whole club. I'm sure the players sensed all the moaning and graining. In fact we were signing we want to go home and fack Wembley.

It was not home despite how some rival fans may twist it.

But that was Spurs choice, they still had the home advantage of the most fans and of playing there more than anyone else. It was also the clubs own fault that the stadium wasn’t ready on time.

Not saying it wasn't the clubs choice or fault, totally agree with that. What I don't agree with is people saying that it was our home ground when it clearly wasn't. The place was toxic by the end.

I get it, stats show we had higher number fans and we played more games there than other teams so have the advantage but it wasn't HOME.

I'm not supporting Spurs as such. But I believe the Anfield atmosphere is a plus, and so not having it is a loss. Which I think would affect most teams also.

posted on 3/7/19

I haven't been to Anfield but it can't be no coincidence that all the pros and managers say its one of the toughest grounds to play at and one of the most amazing atmospheres especially on a European night. And it does look/sound epic on TV.

What a load of sheight.

The only advantage of playing at 'home' is the crowd cheering you on or baying for the away team's blood.

You had that at Wembley because you had home advantage.

End of story.

posted on 3/7/19

Saying End of story, doesn't make it true. And I bet your team would miss Anfield if they had to play at another ground for a while

End of story

posted on 3/7/19

The thing is fans are funny, if it was vice versa then Liverpool fans would be arguing that it wasnt home and Spurs/rival fans would be arguing that it was a home and you had the advantage.
