i don't believe in mocking the rich when they pay more tax, its when they pay less than they are meant to thats the problem

----------------------------------------------------------------------

And in this I wholeheartedly agree with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I bet most of the cabinet make a vast majority of their earnings with accounts abroad and pay very little tax.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed they do

"I said everyone should save something"

"we are practically at full employment."

And here's the rub of it. We are at practically full employment, but what work are people doing?

The reality of the situation is that the number of 'working poor' has risen astronomically under the Tories.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/poverty-uk-inwork-working-inequality-a8964291.html

https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk/2019/04/leader-plight-britain-s-working-poor

https://www.ft.com/content/f6c2dd6e-343a-11e9-bd3a-8b2a211d90d5

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48677693

A fifth of people in working UK households in relative poverty. A fifth.

Yet they're meant to save up how much to get them through their old age? And they're being forced to work to death (Glasgow ALE less than 75) because the state is abandoning them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Again entirely missing my point that those who need help should get it.

Without question.

But it does have to be paid for and everyone should share some responsibility.

Yet all we get is Tory this and Tory that meanwhile bemoaning everything and anything and thinking the easy answer is to just tax the “rich” more yet I’ve still to be told what qualifies as being “rich”.

Close loopholes all day long as far as I’m concerned. I’m all for it. I’m also all for taking a much larger share of the burden yet there still pervades this notion that somehow it should all be targeted in one simplistic direction.

Doesn’t anyone think it’s not been tried before?

I know of a lot of self employed people who earn "nothing" a lot of cash in hand (it still goes on) the even have the nerve to claim tax credits, free school meals, school uniform support etc I have always said its benefit fraud and big companies tax avoidance that needs looked at a lot more, serious savings to be made there

Are they rich though?

If not.........

And yes of course it's about the rich.

The law, banking and tax are there to protect the rich so it's about f@cking time they started paying instead of living here tax free.

"We don't pay taxes; only the little people pay taxes," was that legendary quote. I hope Leona Helmsley is burning in hell.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolute utter horseshit.

the rich pay the most tax. By far. Work that one out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not the ones who avoid tax they don't. High earners fair enough. Those with bank accounts in the Bahamas I'm talking about.

Oh but don't hurt the wealth creators! So hurt those who can't afford to eat or heat their home?

That's utter horseshit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

See when you qualify it as you’ve just done then there’s no argument.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apologies for not making myself clear.

There's a world of difference between the terms high earners and "the rich" IMO.

I don't grudge high earners one penny. I know they pay the most tax. Why the f@ck should those who have needs suffer most when never is anywhere near enough done to rein in the rich?

It's because the law, banking and the tax system and all its loopholes are there to protect them.

Come the f@cking revolution cos this is what this batch of evil tory khunts need.

If they're going to bring things back hundreds of years they'll hopefully end up getting purged, just like old times. I'll light the f@cking fire for them...

You would. I do. And as for that don’t believe for a second you don’t pay the tax if you are a UK citizen and resident in the UK.

When weans are going to school with empty bellies, in bedraggled uniforms and their parents are skipping meals to make sure they eat, then who should we point the finger at?

This Universal Credit bollox is actually starving families and they are not all waste of space, bone idle types drinking and smoking all day.

Watch 'I, Daniel Blake' eye opener.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seen it. Great film and everything that is wrong with this country.

But it has to be paid for. And fairly. By everyone although clearly not in equal amounts.

No easy solution is there eh Ginger.

Could do worse than to look at a community aspect of living as a whole, everyone knowing their place to help and to have small urban farms, less strain on the rest of the planet and a job for everyone. Aye its all hippy kinda pash but it may well work if everyone is not too busy with their heeds full of consume this and that and buy this etc. Would also leave the rainforests untouched i would like to think

=========

this is a party which somehow found 1 billion pounds to pay the DUP, while people are going to foodbanks.

a party which gives themselves, and all their rich -pals tax breaks, while people are going to food banks.

a party which put a system in place where people are being declared fit to work, when they are quite clearly not, and a plan which has resulted in deaths because of this.

they are absolute b@stards, and they deserve nothing but disdain.

Hmmm. An interesting concept.

I do it and I have to pay the tax as I’m a UK citizen and resident. So everyone is fine with that I assume.

So how do you change that particular law? Exclude certain individuals? people from certain countries who choose to invest in the UK?

It’s a minefield and trust me HMRC are very aggressive in their treatment of questionable income. It take time though and sometimes it takes years.
