" Both sides are miles ahead this season, on any given day either side could have an off game and drop points but it seems unlikely."
When you look at the league table it makes for pretty alarming reading for the rest of the league.
If Rangers win the two games in hand (and Celtic win their one game) Rangers will be two points ahead of Celtic but nineteen pints ahead of Motherwell.

I think what the stats show are that Rangers are pash
The Christmas Old Firm game has no telling at all as it appears
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Time will tell but that isn't a conclusion I would jump to.
I think the context of this years game is significant. Celtic were poor in the cup final yet somehow won. We were told that they couldn't play that badly again. I don't think I saw many pundits (if any) predicting a Gers win in the follow up at Parkhead.
However Gers showed the cup final performance wasn't a one off and wasn't just as a result of Eduoard being out or Celtic 'not turning up'.
We showed we are every bit as good a side as Celtic and we may even just have that wee edge in terms of grit and determination this year. Gers know that if we are to win the league this year we will need to defy the odds and battle for it in order to break a long winning streak from celtic.
That is a lot of pressure on Gers - and the last two games have shown we might just have the cojones for the fight.
And to be fair over the piece this season Rangers have shown a different level of resolve - both in Europe and in grinding out games we would have previously lost domestically like Killie away etc.
The big plus for me that has come of the recent games is that Rangers look like they enjoy playing Celtic now. They were terrified of playing them two seasons ago. Now they seem to relish the games - and SG and his team need to take enormous credit for that.
I am really looking forward to the second half of the season. Both teams have kicked on and both have done fantastically well in Europe.
But Gers improvement has undoubtedly been greater in the league so far - we have won 2.63 points per game versus 2.00 to this point last season. Celtic have won 2.60 versus 2.10 points per game last season.
I don't know too much about what Celtic need but from the last two games it seems they would benefit from a settled back four and a reliable back up to Eduoard.
Rangers possibly need another striking option and maybe another creative player for the right hand side - although I do think Jones can contribute second half of the season.
It will be close and I still expect it to be pretty much neck and neck come the next OF game - which will make it a MASSIVE one in mid March.
Bring it on

There is a fine line between fishing and sitting next to a river with a stick in your hand
Cant say its not required as we are genuinely struggling now.
We had our best 11 on the park and was at home and still they out fought us.

what happened to the winger - maybe Ukranian? - that you signed but loaned straight back last season?
Was he not ripping it up domestically and causing significant trouser arousal before completing his move to Scotland this season?
Has he gone back out on loan or got injured?

Shved ? He's not featured
Hasn't been loaned out , he just looked trash in pre season and can't be looking better in training
Unreal that Taylor hadn't played much
He HAS to be better the boli !!
Bolingoli had some attributes but hes a shaky nail too often ... sketchy in possession
Doesn't time runs , just bombs forward all the time
Get Taylor in , he looked a better option from what I've seen of him

I have never been convinced with Taylor tbh.
Wouldn't have been near a Scotland squad had it not been for injuries and Clarke coming in.
He doesn't even have the degree of physicality that a Broadfoot or ODonnell does to compensate for his limitations.
He won a watch with his move to celtic. No more than a competent back up for you guys I would say.
