Sorry H - but I just don’t get it!! Yes a tragedy especially as it seems young family members also died.
But why is it such international sports news??
And why do others like Messi Beckham Lineker feel the need to share their emotions with the rest of us??

It’s just wrong on every level. And yes o do feel sympathy for the family, of course I do

Did the homeless guy ever score 81 points in a single game?

It’s international news because he was a huge icon mate loved and respected by anyone and everyone of knew him or watched him play

Think you’re way of on this one mate.

It’s bigger news in America tbf where he is considered a legend of the game.

Over here it would be the equivalent of Beckham/Rooney being killed alongside one of their kids.

So you're shocked that one of the most famous sportsmen of the last 25 years and someone who had numerous celebrity friends across numerous sports who died at 41 is across the news and bereaved by thousands on social media? And you compare that with a homeless man?

Rob - I like you and respect you as a poster on here and the old 606 👍
I just don’t get it. Was the loss of Kobe anymore significant than that if a homeless person who no one really cared about??

posted on 27/1/20

As for the homeless guy, of course no public outcry, the public voted for the Tories so they don’t care who dies from their policies.

About 4/5 homeless die every week and we just keep on stepping over them.

No one is saying it’s more of a tragedy

Just that it’s more of a well known event

It’s not about Tories Sizz, homeless people died under Blair and Gordon too.

I’m sorry if I’ve upset folk on here. But I just don’t get it 👍

It's precisely because we are human burdoned with emotions that you see this kind of reaction. They are emotionally invested because some either know Kobe, have watched him play more than they have seen their own co-workers or family and therefore care about this incident.

It's just like the concept of Not in My Back Yard, we encourage ppl in Hong Kong to keep up with the violent strikes because its for a good cause. But when youngsters here block public transport for Extinction Rebellion we are the first to attack them and lock them up because they are causing us to be late for work...

I do get what you’re saying

But it’s no different to wondering why United or Liverpool games get more tv coverage than a local pub side does.

Just what is well known and what isn’t

Kobe was a sporting icon.... one of the very best to play the game. He was the epitome of hard work and an unrelenting will to win !!! The fact his daughter was involved too makes it that much more tragic. It has no relevance whatsoever to any other tragic story in the world.... we lost a true spirting great way too young and that in itself is a tragedy!!!! RIP kobe

But it is.

Killing the poor and vunerable is official Tory Policy.

150’000 austerity and deaths and counting, people don’t care, they never have.

Must you bring politics into everything

Austerity is due to the overspend of the Labour governments of Blair and Brown as well.

Now stop, no politics
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t talk f*cking rubbish, we’re the 5th/6th richest country in the world (apparently) if we didn’t want homeless people on our streets, then we wouldn’t have them. It’s a conscious choice, because that’s who we are.

Such an utterly naive view there

Some homeless people want to be on the streets - doesn’t matter how rich the country they live in is
