As for the homeless guy, of course no public outcry, the public voted for the Tories so they don’t care who dies from their policies.

About 4/5 homeless die every week and we just keep on stepping over them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not about Tories Sizz,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But it is.

Killing the poor and vunerable is official Tory Policy.

150’000 austerity and deaths and counting, people don’t care, they never have.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Must you bring politics into everything

Austerity is due to the overspend of the Labour governments of Blair and Brown as well.

Now stop, no politics
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t talk f*cking rubbish, we’re the 5th/6th richest country in the world (apparently) if we didn’t want homeless people on our streets, then we wouldn’t have them. It’s a conscious choice, because that’s who we are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Such an utterly naive view there

Some homeless people want to be on the streets - doesn’t matter how rich the country they live in is
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A tiny tiny percentage because that’s all the know. There’s thousands of women and kids on our streets because their home lives were too violent or they were sexually abused and they pushed into all sorts of desperate situations to survive. So let’s not pretend they want to be there.

Then there’s the army vets we pretend to give a $hit about, like buying a poppy once a year because that makes us feel like we’ve done our bit.

This country literally makes me sick.

Right - ok

This wasn’t meant to turn into yet another political thread. I just didn’t get it ok??
But some explanations have helped. I hadn’t heard of him. I’m not into NBA. It just didn’t resonate with me. And yes of course I felt for the loss of him as an individual and for his immediate friends and family 🌹

That’s a societal problem that crosses all political parties and all countries

You can rightly blame the right but also the left have to hold their hands up for years of progressive policies that in some cases has led to the breakup of the family unit which also has a big hand in the breakdown in society- a lack of present father figures etc

Not what I intended. Please take it elsewhere

I agree with OP 100%
He was a famous guy I get that, and it’s a tragedy his young daughter also died. But end of the day, to me thousands dying needlessly due to homelessness or a bombing of a city, is much much more tragic and yet there is no emotion showed by literally anyone

It gains more press simply on the basis he was a globally known figure , a bit like when Princes Diana was murdered .

I'm no NBA fan but I have heard of Coby.

Any chance the OP could honour the deceased homeless gentleman by providing a follow-up link to the story?

Doesn't even have to be a known publication. Any mention of the story on Twitter would do.

I don't understand how my comment was doing any harm

Finland cares about the homeless. People all over do, they're just typically too busy watching sports etc to do anything about it.

I think your point, OP, would be better debated if it weren’t barely 24 hours since the incident.

Have some common decency.

It’s the bandwagon jumping by celebrities that I can’t stand. Like most of them actually give a shiiiit

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think there's a reasonable debate to be had. It shouldn't be an either/or situation. There is space for people to care about both. Whether a public outpouring from people around the world for a random homeless guy is realistic, is another matter.

Did the homeless guy ever score 81 points in a single game?

Hmm. You say there’s no debate to be had and then go onto write two reasonable points!

It’s fine to have a discussion about these things but the timing is off imo.

These people may and did know Kobe, so of course they're gonna tweet etc. His life means no less or more than mine or yours but we're not sporting legends. Well at least I'm not!
