As i said,, lucky with inuries.

Liverpool will be back to being an irrelevant entity soon enough.

My advice, enjoy it whilst it lasts

They have numerous other "one of the best in the world" players.

Laporte has not missed the whole season.

posted on 30/1/20

That is besides the point. he was the best out and out winger in the league for the last couple of years. of course they will miss that. Pep has made it very clear they have missed him.

posted on 30/1/20

They have missed Kompany more. Their own stupid fault for not replacing him.

19 points difference and a player that Pep had in and out of the side?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

virtually all city players are in and out of the side.

and their main CB. which has caused a knock on effect of having the best dm in the league having the play cb. which has effected both defence and midfield.

Damn...it's like City don't have the resources to ensure their squad is prepared for injuries to key players.

Liverpool lost Matip for most the season.
Fahinho for a lot of the season.

Ox last season. Maybe we would have won it

Having a squad full of players doesnt mean losing the better ones in the squad wont effect you.

I must admit to having changed my mind a little about the Liverpool squad discussion, though don't think we've seen enough to know either way.

I underestimated how much of a role players like Mane play and I don't think Liverpool are so reliable on players like Salah - after his monster season I did think that was the case but was clearly not correct.

They have had a decent run without injuries to key players and it would be interesting to see how it affected them if they lost one of their full backs for a sustained period, or VVD for example, but I'm more confident they'd cope than I was a year ago I must admit.

We lost Alisson. Had no effect

People need to concentrate on how poor Citys defensive signings have been. Theyve caused their own problems

I'm not sure your keeper missing seven league games really disproves the point.

Not that I'm making some grand statement about Liverpool being lucky with injuries. I just don't think you've had to cope with the loss of key players for any sustained period and I'd be interested to see how the team coped in those situations, that's all.

We've not has any more luck than anyone else, possibly worse than some teams.

It can go under the radar. We managed Salah for two months and even when he played we were still managing his injury. Klopp would have lived to just bench him until recovered but Liverpool can't afford to do that.

I wouldn't mind losing one of our full backs if we had a £450m defence. As its stands, our defence is worth around £105m. It also wouldn't be an excuse for losing so many games and being beaten by the likes of Norwich and Manchester United at home, twice.

What has happened is we have been smart and articulate at every juncture and its paying off.

No, we've not.

It seems to be taken as a dig at Liverpool when you bring up injuries.

It's absolutely not.

But it's perfectly reasonable to be intrigued about how well the team would cope with the loss of one or two key players for a sustained period.

As I say, I'm not as sure it would affect Liverpool as I was a year ago, but I'm still interested.
