The UK is a rich country that doesn't look after the more vulnerable very well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
really? how so? and in comparison to who?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mental health, drug and alcohol problems, the elderly with complex health issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But how are you judging that? I find it very hard to believe with the NHS, amount of care homes, social workers etc. Do other countries stand up to that standard? Genuinely interested. How are you judging this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Try using the services and you will quickly find out the government is sadly lacking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, you're not answering. How are you comparing that to other countries?
I mean unless you have cited help in the uk for mental health issues personally and also done it in several other european countries?

If things go well tomorroe Ireland might finally get a left leaning Government in place, unlikley it will be a majority but we should see some real change for the two party statusquo we've had in power for a century.

Here's hoping...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Doubt it mate it’ll be Fianna Fáil and the cycle will continue
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know mate I'd say Martin will be Taoiseach, but SF will get a good few seats so will be interesting to see how it comes together.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will probably be another hybrid version of what we currently have
The big deal for me is the turnout number
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SF seem to be bringing out the young vote so the number who come out will have a huge influence.

I feel sorry for that thunburg kid. been manipulated to the high heavens by adults around her for cash and has had her childhood robbed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again not ture... By any chance are you a fan of Paul Joseph Watson?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course its true.

Nah that bloke is way to reactionary but he is right about her and the people surrounding her.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah he's just threathed by a young person having a vocie who says things he doesn't like.

She's trying to do good, mad how so many Da's are afraid of her
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No she's spouting nonsesne she doesnt remotely understand because she is a money spinner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think what she's saying is false?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah in parts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd agree some it OTT, but overall her message is good.

But in the current conversation and metrics being used we are discussing how the uk holds up to other countries, thats all we have as a measuring stick. We could potentially look after the vulnerable better than the rest of the world (hypothetically) and you could still say the same thing.

I am allowed to make a point about the conversation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course you are, just didn't have any relevance, and i'm also allowed to comment on your point. Or lack of one. Just saying, its easy to dig out the country, but it holds up well by most metrics. I work very closely with hospitals/care homes etc in my line of work and the services some offer is unbelievable.

It isnt the goverments job to look after people, its their job to run a country.

The first duty of any government is to look after the safety of it's citizens, And who do you think is responsible for NHS and care provision ?

It has though been their job to cut vital services for vulnerable people, and what a sterling job they’ve done since the credit crunch

A lot of it was out of necessity. It isnt nice but the country was in a perilous financial state.
